hello all so I made my complaint against my surgeon that ended my career he did what I thought was a simple hip replacement and it ended up in 2 hip revisions 2 dislocations and an emergency surgery that he put in a ring to hopefully stop my hip from dislocating again amd with this ring I guess it gives me a warning first before it dislocated. I sure hope it doesnt dislocate again it gets super painful each time. and now I’m seeing a new surgeon next weds and have to do a series of xrays the morning of my appointment for left hip and left knee. as i need surgery down the road for my left knee as i have patella femoral syndrome and a torn acl bundle tear and i think it was caused from my first dislocation, or it just started to wear out over the yrs cause I was a kitchen supervisor so I was always on my feet then being a ft mommy and wife so never got to rest. and my knees arnt straight they dont sit in the middle when I stand they go inwards and when I sit they go outwards. also have a family drs appointment today in half hr as I’m having circulation problems since my last emergency surgery 6 weeks ago

I have hip dysplasia from birth my first total hip replacement was Nov 1993 this surgery was fine no problems. Sept 2013 I was at work I also on my feet all day assistant manager at grocery store I stated having pain in my back and hip so I made appointment to have x- rays and my doctor ordered bone scan which showed loosening of the hip so I had to have revision hip replacement on left, when I woke up from that surgery my left foot felt weird doctor said just give yourself time to heal still . So fast forward 6 months I tried to go back to work and I could hardly make through 2 hrs so I went back to my doctor and he referred me to Neurologist and I had EMG test done which showed I have sciatic nerve damage from the hip revision. Not saying thats what you have but I would have the test done just to make sure. Ever since the revision surgery I have been on disability lost my job and have been in pain. Please keep me posted and I hope you get some answers so sorry this has happened to you. I live in San Diego California we have 1 year statue of limitations after that we cant sue.

hi you and i are so similar in our stories even same problems as a kid with hip d and shallow cups , although my hip saga started twelve years ago . Ive had 5 surgeries and 5 dislocations last one 9 months after last op just 6 weeks ago ! painful is not strong enough of a word for it . Can i ask what the ring is and what it does ? my next surgery option is not good for me long term so i have to hope it stays put … not alot of hope given to me at last visit with my surgeon so feeling pretty gutted . I to have sent complaints in for various things but is very hard in nz to get anything but a ( im sorry ) to late for me . i had a fall 4 days after as my balance is crap and turned myself so I didnt fall on my right and fell heavy on my left now im pretty sure my left implant that was done ten years ago is now damaged as over the last 6 weeks if recovery it has got very painful in groin and whole side of hip , trouble sleeping on it and when both are sore i walk like a penguin ! i really need the left to hold out till my strength in my right is to at least 80%
i dont or cant work either or do bugger all , the worst was being told i cannot ride horses anymore which was crushing . I feel your pain and anger ! I hope you get a result but stay strong there is not much else one can do ah

wow yes I feel ur pain I was cut open in the same spot anterior approch 4 times and the last 2 surgerys were so close together my last revision was dec 3rd then jan 23rd I was having a bath and wham my hip dislocated and was stuck behind my socket it was the worst any dr had seen. so I was lifted out of the tub taken to our small towns hospital where they gave me an iv but I was so tense and in pain they couldnt find one so I got jabbed 5 times and the nurse there put in a catheter then rushed by ambulance to the next city they tried 2 times and were unsuccessful so then rushed to next city layed there for 2 days no food no water just a sponge on a stick and that sat I had emergency surgery which ended my career. so I think from being cut into so many times and especially cut open 2 times in less then 2 months I think I have nerve damage and its painful I also have fluid buildup on the side but my surgeon advised me not to have it drained cause he said it would just come back.I’m seeing a new surgeon next week so I will ask him to do a nerve test to find out if its nerve damage and yes my foot turns ice cold just the left for awhile then it goes hot. and this happens
I’m not sure either but the ring basically imitates my mobility and it pretty much locks my ball into the cup and prevents it from dislocating again and it gives me a warning if it will dislocate I guess
