hello 40 year old male here. For the past year (on and off) I have been having pressure like dull ache in my upper abdominal area. The pain is spread out across the upper region and never raditaes to other abdominal. It happens mostly after I eat something even in very small amounts.I dont have any diarhea or nausea. ( I had a a colonoscopy and endoscopy in 2015 which revealed mild gastritis which went away shortly after my medication ) It first started a year ago with dull pressure ache in right upper quadrant and upper left quadrant mostly and it was always in one exact spot. Then I started to feel the same exact dull ache but in whole upper abdominal area. The pain was worse when I had to bend over to tie my shoes for example. Also I feel that foods that makes it worse contain vinegar like dressing. I did a ultrasound of the right upper quadrant and it was normal. I also had a stool test for H.Pylori which was negative. Later a CT scan of abdominal and pelvis revealed this... **Mild colonic diverticulosis. Moderate to large quantity of stool in colon** My gastrologist told me to drink Myrelax without any other instructions. I drank it maybe for 2 weeks but didnt want to continue as I read that it could cause issues as well. The aches continued maybe for about a month but then went away for 3 months and now me back as dull pressure continuous aches in only upper abdominal. Thank you for any response.
Epigastric pain is associated with dyspepsia ( indigestion).
Make some lifestyle changes like:
eating 5-6 small meals instead of 2-3 large meals.
brisk walk for 45-60 mins.
avoid fatty/spicy foods
last meal should be at least 3 hours before going to bed.
Apart from these lifestyle changes, you should continue at least one PPI daily. Ask your doctor to prescribe Nexium or Pantoprazole to you, or try getting it over the counter. Sometimes PPIs have to be taken for a long period of time ( 6months - 1 year) to settle down the issue.
Good luck.
