upping mirt from 45mg to 60mg

Anyone have any success doing this? after 10 months on gradually increasing doses ive been on 45mg for 2 months. I now feel as depressed as before I started on mirt.

Get of it taper over 2 years

Hi It sounds like Mirt isn't working for you. I would go to your GP and he may suggest another medication for you after you have weaned off mirt. I weaned off parox over 4 weeks as stopped working. I had been taking it for 18years. Now on new medication and after only 2 weeks felt well. Please go to your GP for advise. You need to find the right medication!

Hi,

I just switched to 60 last week and not yet seeing any benefits. I was having good and bad days on the 45mg. Was still anxious with light-headedness and stomach being nervous in the morning so psychiatrist suggested I up to 60mg. When I told her I'm not feeling better maybe a bit worse she said it was too early I have to give it 2 to 3 weeks. I'm so frustrated!!!!

Hi Elizabeth, how are you feeling on the 60mg?? I cant tolerate most antidepressants due to severe gerd/acid reflux so ive upped to 60mg for the last 5 days and feel a lot better!

Hi,

Mike I've started to feel a bit better this past Saturday...not quite where I need to be. My mornings are still a bit rough where I wake up with a quesey stomach but my overall days are a bit better so gonna give it more time. How you doing?

Liz

Hi Elizabeth, been feeling almost ok, nowhere near where I feel I should be

Ive been on 60mg for about ten days and might give it a couple more weeks

Hi Mike,

I had to cut back to 30. My liver was not responding well... really frustrated...they have to try something else once I'm off mirtazapine 😫

Hi Elizabeth, I noticed my liver enzymes were elevated on the last 2 blood tests ive had. Do you know which ones were elevated with you? I was only on 30mg at the time of those tests. Thanks a lot for your reply

Hi,

My ALT was at 133 when I was at 60. Gonna see in a week what it's at on 30. It's so frustrating...I don't really want to try another antidepressant. When I tried SSRIs felt like crap.

Liz

Hi

I thought the highest safest dose was 45?

I’m so confused. I too have to wait to see results. But it’s bern almost 2 1/2 weeks since I changed from 30 to 45 and still feel the same 😢

Hi,

I'm from Canada so it may be different. But I can down to 30 because of my liver and will be reducing further. Sometimes it can take a bit longer to see results. But to be honest I feel better on the 30 than I did the 60. So maybe 45 is too much for you

Sorry to hear that Liz, hopefully your ALT returns to normal. Mirtazapine doesn't seem to be a very uplifting antidepressant like Prozac was for me, 2 weeks on 60mg and I don't feel any better than I did after day 3 of the increase to 60mg

hi Liz how did your liver enzymes end up after the mirtazapine decrease?
