Upping the dosage stories / advice please

Hi Everyone,

I've been on sertraline for 12 weeks now at 50mg for anxiety and mild depression. Most of my side effects have tapered off now however i'm still finding I have shortness of breath and tight chest whenever I try to do anything (even walking for more than 10 minutes and going up stairs) I went to my doctor and they tested me for anaemia, however my bloods came back perfectly fine... They really want to increase my dose especially after I told them how I found I had a serious lack of concentration and motivation and often find myself doing nothing for hours on end. I'm very worried about upping the dose and having to deal with all those side effects again for the first few weeks.

I would love to hear what other people have experienced when increasing their dosage - good and bad! And if anyone else has these side effects.

Hi Laura,

I have had some chest tightness throughout but noted it to be more prominent when the dose increased from 75mg to 100mg.  I’m now on 75mg day 6 and still have the chest discomfort but possibly a little less.

It also worsened my sleep and caused terrible fatigue.  Motivation is out the window.   I'm going to stay another week or so on 75 to see if there’s improvement and if not will go down to 50mg.

When I look at overall progress, I feel like I’m in a better place but quite honestly I’m not sure it’s the impact of the drug.   I truly believe that a big component is the quality of your thoughts ....happiness depends on your belief system and the quality of your thoughts.

All the best to you....

I'm only on 50 I have had nausea tiredness tremors and anxiety increased been on it 3 weeks and a bit getting better
