I had a THR 6 weeks ago and now I'm having pain in the other leg. When I get up to walk I have to stand for a few minutes before I can put weight in the opposite leg any suggestions? I was doing well
You need to see your specialist asap. Might need a steroid injection.. This happened to me after my first hip operation and my other hip was replaced 2 years later. It may be something than can be corrected with physio or hydrotherapy so see your specialist asap for advice.
Thanks I go on the 25th
Write down your concerns so that when you see the specialist you dont forget things.
hi teresa,
warm welcome to the hippies forum where we share our personal stories and experiences -
Oh, I am so sorry that you are in pain ...
Unfortunately this happened to me too - at 6 weeks follow up visit with OS , an xray was taken and showed that other (good) hip's cartilgae had gone from mild to bone on bone in 6 months time ...
I was devastated and upset but the forum members here pulled me through all the way to 2nd THR which I had 6months later...
Hopefully this is not the case with you - You might be over burdening the good hip -
are you still on pain medication ?
please let us know how you are getting on ...
big waqrm hug

Hi,so sorry to hear that, I to am 5 weeks out and experiencing the same pain. I go to Physical therapy today and had mentioned it to him the past visit, he said it sounds like bursa it might be inflamed.
He worked on it for that session and it felt better not gone just better, if there is no relief today I am going to get a cortisone injection as soon as possible.
Good luck .. let us know
Hi Terrie if you don't mind me asking where was your pain? I had home therapy for 4 weeks and I called the Dr yesterday because it was still hurting and they said they should of sent me to outpatient after but they didn't I go to OS on the 25th
The pain has been on my left side on my hip very sensitive to touch.
The right side has been in my Goin area sharp pain .
I haven't m moved all day except to use the bathroom and it's still the when I move.
I go to Physical therapy today so I am hoping that they have a answer if not I am off to see the surgeon .
I do not have a fever ,but I do feel nauseous since this started , perhaps just nervous, really don't know why after doing so well this past week.
Hope all goes well please let me know what the therpaist says and good luck.
Hi , it went very well feeling much more at ease.
They told me that I needed to get a cortisone injection being it's sensitive to the touch, and as far as the Goin pain we worked our a few mussels and it feeling a bit better said it the tendons & mussels are healing .
But overall feeling much better just knowing.
Thank you .. keep on moving
Glad things went well with you. Keep recovering.
hi terrie,
good to hear that you are feeling more at ease -- stress and tension do not really help with pain relief ..
Let us know when you get the cortisone shot, okay ... for some reason my OS wanted to wait (Trochanteric Bursitis) for an additional 6 weeks and see if rest and icing would help ...
angel blessings
