Just querying - I have had about 6 weeks of pain and constant pressure/feeling to urinate in the head of my penis. On the 28/06 (q week ago) I had a Cystoscopy and they found a stricture about 1 to 1 cm down from the tip of the penis. It was a minor stricture and DR did a dilation to open the urethra and said all good. 1 week later I am noticing improvement with burning and pee stream but still have this pressure/feeling to urinate in the head of the penis. It does seem to be getting less and is not painful just uncomfortable. If I drink water the feeling increases quickly (not with any other beverage) and when I do pee it relieves the pressure (no burning). How long should I wait till I seek further medical advice? Has anyone else had this? As I said I only feel a pressure in the head like I have to pee. My only guess is that the urethra has been inflamed for some time due to the stricture and it will take time to heal and the feeling to go away. I don't have IV or CPPS has I have no other symptoms and Dr found physical symptoms.
My son had the same procedure 7 weeks ago. Still having pain to urinate and penis sore after. Has hadvthis done about 7 times but pain usually gone after a few days. Asked the urologist at app and he said can take up to 6 months to stop. I really hope not.
Thanks, Karen. I don't have pain on urination just constant feeling of having to urinate in the head.
He could have that as well as always in a hurry to go. He is special needs and does not know how to communicate that. His next option is a urethroplasty which l am not keen on.
Something to consider I guess as numerous dilations are not good and can cause more problems. They have about a 40 percent success rate whereas urethroplasty is about 90 percent successful. The recovery is a bit of a nightmare but everything should be fine after about 2 months. Do some research on it as it may be an option. I wouldn't keep getting dilations done.
I just wish they hadnt have stuffed it when they put a catheter up for a double hernia repair in his groin. 2 specialists said that it was that that caused the problem in the beginning.
I just wanted to come back with a quick update for those that might fall onto my post - things got better. I am at the 3 and half mth mark since this all began and can say each mths I noticed differences and am nearly pain-free now. Just took time. I recommend any newbies to this to not stress. Get on top of your mental health first and foremost and don't let the pain worry you or take over your life. Don't look for a cure. Get all the physical things done to rule that all out and then relax. Get a Headache in the Pelvis and do the stretching exercises every day. Do 20 min meditation as often as you can. Believe it or not tight muscles are normally the culprit and you just need to loosen them up. Stress is your number one enemy as it will tense your pelvic and abdominal region. Know that the pain will either go into remission or go away completely. When the pain goes keep doing the stretches, finds ways to relieve stress in your life and walk daily. Get a donut cushion ASAP for sitting. Yes you will read stories online re: people having conditions for years but the pain comes and goes and you can get better at managing it and avoiding flares. If you had a stricture like I did don't put a time line on it to heal. It will heal, for some this occurs right away for others it can take a couple of months but it does get better if you follow my advice above. Yes CPPS, prostatitis and all pelvic condition have no cure but you will and can get your pain levels down to 0 and then it is just self care and management to avoid a flare.
