Hi
so about 4 weeks ago my anxiety and panic came back after 4 years of feeling fine. I'd been on 20mg citalopram and was doing well. 4 weeks ago however it came back and hit me like a freight train! The first week was hell and I struggled a lot. The 2nd week although i was anxious I seemed to be able to manage it (just) but then I had a dip and my GP decided to put me on sertraline. I had to taper off citalopram and introduce the sertraline. (So 1 day on citalopram then the next day on sertraline and so on for 18 days)
On the days I was taking my sertraline apart from a bit of stomach upset and slight mornings of anxiety I was doing ok and my panic had gone. Now after 15 days I feel shocking!!!! For the past 3 days my anxiety and panic has been horrendous! I'm severely agitating, trembling and shaking, tense, severe panic, and at times hysterical!!! Had an ambulance out today it was so bad, they did an ECG and it showed an abnormality in my t wave which has severely increased my anxiety more!! Doc has given me Diaz 2mg but didn't seem to work as well as it has done previously. I was worried about seratonin syndrome but when iv mentioned my symptons to gp and nhs 111 they just disregard it! I can't keep going through days like this. I don't know what to do ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ I feel like I'm going mad!
Can anyone please offer any insight? Could it be the sertraline? Even though I was ok on it for the first 5 days? Or could it be coming off the citalopram? Or the cross taper? Im so scared and no health professional seems to want to help me because I have anxiety 😢😢
In addition I also have morning diarrhoea and struggling to eat! And iv noticed when I take a nap or after waking in a morning as soon as I wake up my heart pounds straight away and is so fast!
To claire sertraline to my experiences of being on different meds i say is not the best when suffering
To claire sertraline or citralapram in my advise wont cut the mustard im not a helth professional but i can tell you that venlafaxine or effexor is one of best in these circumstances but be warned if you try to come off venlafaxine it is one of the worst ones to come off. But 2 mg of diaz would do nothing to me. But we are all different . Venlafaxine has to be issued by a mental health sepcialist or psychiatrist. There is carm here when taking this medication i was suicidal at the beginning of the year the psychiatrist has now got me on maximum dose of venlafaxine it can ease you symtoms of servere panic. Now this is just advice im giving you.good luck and i hope it helps you
Rest asure i hope it works for you venlefaxine it is a good one in these circumstances i was on a low dose of venlafaxine for 2 and a half years 75 mg it helped but i was still bad i was in total despair all the time. My specailist eventually put it up to 150mg but i was still bad. I am now on 300 mg of venlafaxine and it has helped a lot. I hope this helps you claire33434
I know from experience that sertraline will do that to you. It's up and down until they fully help you. I too was convinced I was going crazy. The best forum to place your concerns is in the sertraline forum, there are people on there that have switched from one to the other. I know that when your body starts to get used to it, it works great. Best of luck Claire!
