Is it normal to have a sensitive bladder 12 days after surgery?
I don't seem able to hold more than 250mls before I get really big urges to pass urine, often less than this. The urine is clear but with debris no odour and no pain on voiding (just temporary relief!). I am drinking between 2-3 ltrs of water a day, I have added 1 coffee and this does not seem to be making things worse.
Feeling indecisive about whether to see GP or wait till Friday when I am back at the hospital. Really cheesed off because apart from tiredness this is really the only symptom I have at the moment.
My bladder was absolutely covered in adhesions (the bladder wall was stuck to something but I can't remember what...) that have been removed, ironically before the op I had a huge bladder capacity and had problems starting to urinate. My catheter was removed on day one after surgery.
During your surgery the bladder which is made up of lots of muscle has to be handled and because of this it becomes sensitive. If you had adhesions then it will have been handled more than usual. It's perfectly normal.
The other thing to remember is that you were catheterised and that alone can cause frequency when it's removed because it tends to irritate the urethra. Sometimes following prolapse repair things just don't go back to how they were before, you have to expect some changes. I bladder no longer holds as much urine as it did pre operation and that was over 6 years ago!
