Good morning all. I did some reading on the new trails on the Urolift and the Median lobe. There has been a trail going on for the last few years that they are working on prostate of 125 g with a median lobe. The results are good. It just they have to put more clips in to secure it to the one side. It has been working well and the pressure the median lobe causes on the bladder neck has been taking off the bladder. I do know that more doctor are going to try to use it after it is being filed. I do know my Urologist has done some patients with that problem and it has worked well for them. When I find out more I will let you know. Also while I was looking that up I came across a new treatment that has been studied for the last 15 years. It is called ** Fexapotide Triflutate ** It is a injection into the prostate. I read this in the BPH News. It is a one time injection that can be done in the office and needs no pain meds. With it helping men with BPH it also can help with sexual functions. The men in the trail that were giving the injection said that there sex life improved even men that were having problem before. This would be great. If you don't want to have any surgery you can get fixed by one injection. It gives us something else to try. The company will submit a NDA for Fexapotide Triflutate for treatment of BPH in the US later this year. They also have a meeting with the FDA later in the year. The full study were recently published in the World Journal of Urology. I hope this find all of you in good health. Here is more hope I just hope it does not take forever. Ken
Thank you very much, Ken. Good to know.
Thanks Ken,
You have been a real warrior for men’s health.
Reading about the treatment I could not see how it would improve sexual function or how much of the prostate it would destroy. It sound very similar to injecting botox where a report said :
"it appears to induce apoptosis,( interesting reading about that separately ) or programmed cell death, preventing the overgrowth of prostate cells. It also seems to slow some prostate activity, shrinking the prostate and relaxing muscles in the prostate gland and bladder that can restrict the flow of urine"
Injection cures for a number of different maladies keep coming up for years now but they never get anywhere.
It is going to be something if it is true. We will have to see Ken
It will be something if this does work It will help many men with both problems. They have been in trails for 15 years They even have evaluation from men as late as 51 months after the treatment. It would give men something else to try instead of surgery. It requires no anesthesia or catheterization and causes little pain or discomfort. Here hoping Ken
I don't know if this was the one I read about a few years ago but it would be something if it really worked for some men Take care Ken
I can't find the clinical trial results of Urolift with a median lobe.. Can you post a link? If you leave off the www and the.com, it won't become a hyperlink and the moderators may not remove the post.
Great news about the efficacy of the Urolift with pts with a median lobe!
Regarding the injection, I think it’s encouraging.
Thanks Ken for being the beacon of information and hope.
Urologists will not like it as not much in it for them.
Hello Kenneth
Thanks for the post. Have you read or know of how Urolift patients fail in terms of after effects - namely incontinence or ED? Any info you can provide will be most welcome.
Regards
I have been following three companies in the US that use injections in the office. This drug (fexapotide trifultate) is called nx-1207 by nymox pharma. This company had a very difficult time with two phase 3 clinical trials where it didn't do much better than placebo. Nonetheless they are going forward. I talked to a doctor over the phone who did a clinical trial with another company using this method but different drug and he felt there is promise with this method. These biotech companies are small and have a tough time financing the clinical trials.
Has far has I read there were no side effect. I am going on 3 1/2 years I have no side effects from it and As of November I am still wide open and the clip are still in the same place my doctor put them Ken I will see if I can find out any more on the trails
I know some will have a problem. One of the doctors said that he can't wait to offer it to his patients. And another doctor sounded like it was done on him because he said personal reasons he like it. So that is what I thought. But they also said that it was a starting step to treating BPH. I don't know but If it help I will be happy. You know that not all procedure work on all men. Time will tell Ken
Presumably the drug will be exclusive to its developers and costed accordingly.
As far as I can tell, no results of the Urolift clinical trial on patients with median lobes are yet available. The results were reported to clinicaltrials dot gov for review and they were sent it back to address issues identified in the review. That happened on June 28th.
The FDA has "cleared new indications for the UroLift® System" which includes patients with a median lobe. One might infer from this that the results were positive overall.
I will see if I can find it again. I read that statement the other day. Doctors are still trying it anyway on there own. I will have to see if I can find out what issues they are talking about. I will let you know Ken
Hi ken I have been watching the injectable drug that you mentioned for quite a while. Ive posted about it a few times. If you dig deep will find that some of the placebo group in that study also did well. It will be interested to.see what the FDA does with it. The company is also applying for its use in Europe. I don't mention the company because my post will be editted or deleted. By the way up until the other day I never found any claim about this drug shrinking the prostate. I saw an article that mentioned a 10%- 20% reduction in prostate size. If this drug comes to market it could be the magic bullet we've all been hoping for.
Ken could you PM me a link to the article you cited. Thanks
Derek I saw an article claiming a reduction of 10 to 20 percent. I could be mistaken thoufh. I've been watching this drug for quite a while.
