I've been reading about "press fit acetabular components" used as a less serious op. than a THR when bone erosion occurs in the acetabular after a hemiarthroplasty. I'm not expecting many replies to this one! I'm posting this just in case anyone else has heard about this? Or, even better, has had such a revision operation. I'm worried about the future of my hemiarthroplasty as a THR in a few years is very daunting and I would love to know if there's an alternative. I'm 55 and although I have MS I'm a lot fitter than they've given me credit for and I only really found out what I'd had done after it was over as there wasn't much discussion beforehand. This site is great for info. so thought I'd give it a go. There must be others who want an alternative to a total revision other than a life on strong pain killers.
dear carol,
apparently not too many here on the forum who can give you any advice, darling. .

You're wonderful Renee. You always reply. As you can tell from my post, I didn't expect lots of responses as if it was used as an alternative then everyone would know about it. It was just an article in one medical journal that I read. Still suffering groin pain but getting MRI this month so fingers crossed.
