UTI and pressure in bladder

Hello,

I have been dealing with nasty UTI infection - now it's a third day. Yday I seeked help and got tested borderline for infection (strip test) at GP and she sent cultures to lab for sensitivty but they are not cultivated yet ( it takes 48 hrs and now are holidays till wednesday...) I haven't had any infection from age 19-22, now I got one although I'm avoiding all common triggers and also I'm using probiotics supplements and home made milk every day.

I had ATBs prescribed only 3 times in a life (two times for UTIs) and I was born with thin urethra so they had to perform surgery when I was really young (0,5 y.o.). Now I got prescribed Unasyn (ampicillin-sulbactam) which prolly worked even though it's and old atb (I don't have build up resistance prolly). I feel a little bit of relief, but not that much as I was expecting - pain kinda stopped but I feel this weird pressure in bladder all the time like I need to pee but I don't. It's not that urgent that I would pee myself but it's very uncomfortable still. I felt before pain after urinating ( not anymore, just feel some weird pressure in bladder still). Probably have tummy ache too due to atbs even though I eat every 6hrs in between 30 bill. probiotics and homemade kefir milk. Also I completely skip refined sugar and I don't eat meat at all even normally because I'm a veg.

Anyone has any insight how long it takes to clear up all symtompts with atbs? it has been 32 hours for me. I had UTIs but I'm unsure about this feeling of pressure in lower abdomen. Thanks

Hi mistaka9925 Well I don't know what you are worrying about as to have had that problem All year I've had antibiotic  in fact two lots but still problem  think I want to pee but isn't hard to get out and when it does flow it stops & starts hot burning feeling  and leaves half the urine  in me  NOw I had a urine test at a major Hospital and they have come up with Klebsiella pneumonia, resistant to amoxicillin,  sensitive to augmentin, co-trimoxazole , gentamicin  and trimethoprim  Reports dysuria at times and long standing urinary symptoms So arer Now on Augmentin  @ 3 per course of 5 days  with food . Now I am 73 and I have put up with this for 12 months come 28th Dec I'd subject to get other test done on your urine

Hello, misaka9925!

Depending on the antibiotic, it could take 1-5 days to feel real relief. Have you tried an OTC pain reliever specifically meant for UTIs /bladder disorders? The active ingredient is Phenazopyridine Hydrochloride, and it's sold under the names of Azo, Uricalm and Uristat (in the US at least-not sure where you are). They're great at relieving UTI symptoms while waiting for antibiotics to kick in and I even use them to help with my interstitial cystitis symptoms, too.
