Utility belt

My surgery is tomorrow lunchtime and its suddenly struck me I've got

no idea how I'm going to transport my stuff, these are the

things I NEED to have at all times, kindle, phone, crafty stuff oh and

A cup of coffee Help 😁😁 I'm pants at asking for help so I have to

be independent.

Healing hugs to all

Kim

Hi Kim,

Good luck with the surgery, I use a small backpack I normally use it when I go swimming

I also use a travel mug for coffee, both of these have made my life so much easier.

hi kim,

I was advised to get 4 wheeled walker instead of crutches because i live alone and was really out of shape - this walker has a little bench so i put everything I needed on it  - it will still be a balancing act ...where will you be spending most of the time you think - a table close by (not too low) will be handy -

Daffy's tip is really good ...I am sure more are on its way ....

Good luck sweetheart -

please let us know how it went and come back here anytime okay?

we are here for you, sending love, light and healing ---

big warm hug

Hi Kim, I managed to get hold of a disability kitchen trolley. It's great cos it enables me to be fairly independent 😆

I also carry an over body bag with my necessities in it. Strips of tablets, mobile & house phone in it. A promise I made my husband in case of emergencies

Good luck today. You'll be fine. I found things frustrating but the original pain gone. I'm on day 19 post op.

Keep us updated how you get on.

Hi Kim

I'm bit of an old timer here, RTHR April 1st. I found that a back pack was great, a small flask - made my cuppa in kitchen put in flask, transported with my cup to my chair.  I did panic a bit the day before about what I needed, I nearly bought a vegetable rack on wheels but didn't miss it.  Good luck - your future begins tomoz.  I think I have had a good result still a few niddles but happy - no OA pain.

I had a table beside my chair and then put another on the other side.  Tried to keep them both full of things I would need.  Rigged up the charger so it was always by my chair for phone and iPad.  On my walker, I tied an apron so there was a pocket at the front.  I kept lots of things in that.  The first couple weeks, it was definitely hard to transport things to my chair.  I put coffee in a lidded mug.  Meals were more in bowls than plates.   I had people here to help for about 8 days but after that I was on my own.  It's hard to ask for help when you're used to being independent.  But people are sure willing and happy to help.

Good luck with your surgery tomorrow!!!  Look forward to reading about your recovery.

Hugs,

Leslie

I had my surgery on 23rd July, my craft stuff (knitting, crocheting and rug making) is resident at the side of the settee, as for iPad, iPhone and purse I have a little rucksack which enables me to move up and down stairs.  It is Ok to ask for help, how would you feel if your friends were struggling at home? You would want to help. Positive vibes Jackie

Good Luck Kim.

You will do fine, I used a cloth shopping bag duct taped to the front of my walker to transport my phone and I always used a bowl with a lid for my food, travel coffee cup. I had a table on each side of me with all the stuff I thought I would need for the day. Meds, snacks, crafts,. Hope this helps.

Please let us know how you are doing? Good Luck!!

Sure hope you are feeling g good about your operation and that all goes smoothly. I personally think that the tool belt makes a lot of sense - so it sounds as if you are set.

Many have a lead made point of asking for help. A good friend would absolutely hate for you to struggle - unnecessarily and you need the social interaction so that you don't go batty.

Wishing you everything god for your operation and recovery.

I used an old camera gadget bag, but anything that goes over the shoulder is useful.

Good luck Kim....keep us posted and hope all goes well....Barb

I got a bag that drapes over my walker.I got it on line.I looked up walkers on my computer through Amazon.I don't know where you live so Im not sure if you have Amazon on line shopping. Its dark blue with A paisley design.I also got a metal coffee cup that totally seals. You have to push a button for it to release coffee.I also got a grabber so I can reach things and pick up things that are on the floor. You can also get cold cups that are sealed .I to hate to bother anyone. These simple and inexpensive it's have increased my independence .
