im sure i have vaginitus,, Im desperate for help as my gps have been more than useless,, I have no dryness at all ever but keep getting swelling really bad, It does feel worse than it looks but is so uncomfortable, What can i do or take for it please?
Try sitz baths, warm water,15 min at a time. Can find a seat at medical supply stores that fits over the toilet. I was also given the go ahead to use 1 percent hydrocotisone ointment, use colorless unscented toilet paper, free and clear laundry detergent and white cotton underwear. Also light coat of vaseline on outside can help. Look up vitamin e oil for atrophy also. The hydro is only for the outside on the vulva, not internally, same with vaseline. Some also use organic coconut oil which you can google. Also washing after urination with just water can help as urine is very acidic.
Also the hydrocortisone should be ointment, not cream.
I'm not familiar with swelling, only shrinking. Not sure if anyone here has mentioned swelling before. What is your age and what have the doctors diagnosed this as? Have they ruled out infection?
My vulva used to be swollen and very irritated, now after months looks normal
Hi cath where are you swelling up? How long has it been happening ?
Thank you lee but this isnt what i need, I do not suffer from dryness, Its mainly swelling and creams do not help or ointments, I have tried.
Well its been about a yr now and all the gps and consultants say there os nothing wrong but it rules my life,, I get swelling just inside the vagina ( internal ) which then puts pressure on the inside lips and vulva area and then its swells, it feels like a prolapse but I have been told I definitely do not have one, I have no infections, No thrush, rarely a discharge, My periods are intermittent due to being 47, I constantly feel uncomfortable in the nether region.
Hi cath I asked how long because I used to swell up and mine was the enzymes in washing powder. Took me ages to find the cause so now I use everything fragrance free. Sorry if it starts inside I dont have a clue thats really weird. Could it be your pelvic floor thats dropped?
Suggestion try a physiotherapist in ladies anatomy on the inside they do exist I see one for vulvadynia but they might have a better idea of your inside bits as they specialise in inside your vagina.
Im mad as my gps say nothing wrong when they're clearly is x
My only thought is that it's not "swelling", but rather the insides shrinking which in turn seems like swelling? Less space either way.
No cos theres no sign of atrophy either, its all looks normal and healthy the gynea said 😨😨
Can you please clarify: Is there visible swelling that the doctor sees or that you see? Is there redness? Or do you "feel" swelling that no one sees ?
liz and marl have some good suggestions. I haven't any. I feel an irritation or burning (which was horrendous when I had an undiagnosed infection), but is bearable now. I DO have atrophy, but it doesn't seem to be progressing...much anyway.
Yes its like the inside walls are down and sitting on the opening and i feel 'open' and feel as though my vagina is falling out,, I have had horrendous burning and i was given vagifem pessaries, Sometimes if i am really sore i get the occassional nerve pain too
Ive heard a few people that seem to have similar issues and it actually stems from a problem in their lower back. Makes sense as all your nerves run to your spinal cord which can cause much irritation and many sensations.
Really? How was that dealt with?
Well first youd have to have them check your spine. I believe some type of physiotherapy.
Hi cath I get the feeling open as well difficult to explain to anyone. I have atrophic vagina which causes burning as hormones have left the body. I also have vulvadynia which also causes a burning sensation which is nerve pain!! May be some connection the nerve pain?? I had to deal with calming the mind as well because stress triggers all sorts of things in the body. Are you stressed?
Aww finally someone who knows what I mean, no not stressed generally but this thing gets me down, What can i do to help these awful symptoms? Thank you Liz x
Cath I ended up going to a Dermatologist as my gp tried everything from thrush to lichen and finally its in my mind!!! And caused me immense stress as I was made to feel a fraud. I spent a year using stuff I became allergic to and caused more symptoms with stress through the roof. I really reached the end of my endurance . It's no fun being in pain all the time. I would say try a gyneacologist or a dermatologist or some hospitals have women's clinics for these problems. It takes a lot of persistence . I understand the uncomfy I've had it still get it but not every day
