A varicocele is an abnormal dilatation of the testicular veins in the pampiniform venous plexus, caused by venous reflux. Varicocele is caused by dysfunction of the valves in the spermatic vein. Varicocele is believed to be associated with male subfertility, although reliable evidence is sparse. The natural history of varicocele is unclear.1
