I had Varococele Embolization back on August 12th, 2025 (coils to block the bad vein). Four months later, and still not a single change in my symptoms (discomfort, bloating, firing feeling). I have Grade 3 varococele on my left I’m assuming since it’s easily seen. No problems getting my wife pregnant fortunately. We’re blessed in that regard. We are on baby #3.
However, the constant discomfort, inability to lift without becoming bloated, etc are very annoying. I haven’t touched a weight in a year because of it. Former college athlete and current coach, so this is difficult. Would love to get back in the gym. For example, the second I put pressure on my abdomen, my varococele inflamed and my lower gut does as well. Same thing when I would try and run. Something is correlated with my varococele and my abdomen when I run to cause this discomfort/bloating. Just can’t seem to shake it at all. Very frustrating! I am 33 years old 6’1 190lbs, so it’s not like I’m out of shape. Wrestling and football coach.
Surgeon said to give it up to 6 months but he anticipates by looking at a follow up ultrasound that I had one month ago in November that he doesn’t anticipate mine improving as he sees no difference in my ultrasounds. Curious what the next steps will be and if I will ever be able to feel normal again and be able to lift, run and what not!! I also don’t want to waste more money if there isn’t a chance to achieve success. Any comments are welcome!!! Has anyone ever had these symptoms? Am I or the doctors missing something down there? Why do I feel this way every time I put pressure on my core? It’s so hard to explain sometimes and I am having a hard time with answers. All help is appreciated! Thanks
