in so much pain with primary outbreak, wondered if I use vaseline will this prevent healing of ulcers? I’m using salt water solution to wash, also lidocaine for pain? I’m not sure if its ok to use vaseline (petroleum jelly) to help soothe and prevent rubbing?
also I’ve only been prescribed 5 days valcyclvir… is this enough!? (2 per day, 500mg tablets each) … how long should it take to start healing, im on day 3 of the tablets…

vaseline can help them sticking together so it does help a little. just make sure your washing your hands really well after and maybe wear a pad or liner to soak up anything.
the lignocaine should help!
also tea tree oil helps dry them up but mix it with some coconut oil cause it will sting.
hopefully you start to feel better soon! 5 days may not be enough for your first outbreak. personally i had to take 1g twice a day for 2 days then 1g daily for 8. Even after this there was still some ulcers but they were not sore and they healed fine with no scaring
