Velcro holding catheter tube to urine bag keeps failing, my DIY fix, what's yours?

Am on my second Foley in-dwelling urinary cath since Sept 1.

The nurses positioned the tube to be Velcro'd at the Y-junction, which I felt was tugging too much.

I now place the tube this way (photo) to allow more movement without tugging,   Also, I notice that when I stand up for hours, the pee-flow is much less; sometimes almost nothing.  When sitting down, the urine flow resumes or become "regular".  I also see some whitish cotton-like "things" in the tube. And, sometimes, things that look like sugar crystals.

Back to my photo and question:  I use a hairpin, then a rubber band over the hairpin's opening to tighten, to keep the Velcro from failing to hold the tube.

If you have a better DIY solution, or a "better tube holder", please kindly chime in.

Thanks in advance.

Bob, I had three different Foley Catheters for a total of 28 days in May & June.  Mine were all Velcro'd at the Y-junction.  My last one was tugging too much, like yours.  My first two had the Y-junction glued onto my leg with an adhesive that would only come off with rubbing alcohol.  The last one used a velcro strap that attached to my leg. That one was always moving and caused me much discomfort.

Is your Y-junction strapped to your leg, or is glued to your leg?

Gary

Strapped with the velcro-on-cloth.

On my first Foley, I replaced the velcro with my own, since its glue was coming off after a day or so.

Say, why did you have 3 Foleys in a short time?  Do these have an "expiry date"?

I received my first Foley when I couldn't pee.

Several days later, my Urologist removed the first one so she could perform a Cystoscopy to see why my urethra was blocked.  My large prostate was the problem, so surgery (TURP) was scheduled for a couple of weeks from then.  She then inserted the second one when I told her that I didn't want to self-cath until the TURP.

I received the third Foley after the TURP which I kept for 5 days.
