Venlaflaxin

The doctor gave me 75my slow release venaflaxine today. Im unsure whethercto take them. Im currently on 40mg citalopram. I have read that venaflaxine have bad side effects eg heart racing. I have had my heart racing forcweeks now due to anxiety i dont want to make it worse help xx

I’ve been recently put on Venuflaxine and I’ve read thar the withdrawals are hard going. I was on Mitrazapine before and they didn’t help a bit but I’m feeling good on the Venuflaxine though they made me nauseous for a couple of days. Best Antidepressant I’ve been on and I’ve been on loads.

oh and my anxiety has been much better on them too

I will give them a, try then. Did they make your heart race at all. As las year i tried sertralune i have never felt so bad in all my life ended up going a&e

everyone has different reactions to medication, so any side effects experienced is difficult to determine prior to taking the medication. as someone on here stated, the withdrawals are quite often very difficult. i know this from research and personal experience. that being said it may very well be the right medication for you and may help you immensley. if youre worried about side effects i suggest speaking with your doctor.

Which meds work best for anxiety. Got bad anxiety from zopiclone withdrawal been trying citalopram an sertraline absolute nightmare just made me feel 10 times worse tried them for 5 months. Seeing a psychiatrist tomo so like some idea of what wors. Very nervous trying another anti depressant as given me ocd now as well.

I find i cope ok with citalopram but sertraline made me really bad. I to an scared of trying another antidepressant as sertraline made me so bad last year that i just dint trust different ones. The doc said i needed to change of citalopram as he thinks they aren’t working but im terrified to try others as ive felt bad for so long i really dont want to feel worse

They both made my anxiety an awful lot worse wouldn’t take another one. Think they work for depression but haven’t got that. Coming off them has been lot worse that zopiclone withdrawal to be honest

I know if been reading the forums. some love them, some hate them. I love them I’m the happiest and most settled than I’ve ever been. I know the w/ds are supposed to be bad but that tells me that there’s something in them that is addictive so therefore whatever it us is what makes people happy on them. you have to take them for about 4/6 weeks to get the full effect. I dont plan on ever coming off them so the w/ds won’t affect me

WWhat other meds have you tried? Ihad one off script for diazapam few years ago worked really well, the SSRI’s had reverse affect to what they are meant to do.

The first one I was put on was Prozac 20 odd years ago . Since then I’ve been Citalopram , Setraline , Amitripiline, Mitrazapine and a couple of others that I was only on for a short while and can’t remember the names of. The only one that helped but only with my sleep was Mitrazapine but did nothing for my depression or anxiety.

Thanks is the current one giving you many side effects. Just very nervous taking another anti depressant as SSRI made me so much worse rather take a benzo if I can get one. Think they are all just as difficult to come off but imagine if you can do proper taper would be easier.

Im on citalopram 40mg and diazepam 2mg tbree times a, day no side effects but just isnt improving at all doc wants me to take venaflaxine slow release. I had a bad experience last year being put on sertraline so asked to go back on citalopram. Im so scated these new ones are going to make me bad again. Im crying most of the time dont want to go out and wish i could go sleep and not wake up

How quickly did the venlaflaxin start helping. Saw a psychiatrist today just give a script for duloxetine think it’s similar to venlaflaxin as he mentioned that but said duloxetine start working quicker. Said the SSRI’s were completely the wrong thing, thinks I’ve got general anxiety disorder that had been masked by years on zopiclone.

It took about 4 weeks to feel the full benefits. I also spent years masking my anxiety with Codiene, Diazepam and Zopilcone. I dont wake up with that horrible scared feeling that makes me want to hide in bed with the Venlafaxine. Yeah It’s an SNRI which is better at treating anxiety disorders and panic attacks. I also read in the note in the box that it can be also used as a painkiller. I was started off at a low dose along with the Mitrazapine to stop withdrawals from the Mitrazapine. I’ve now had my Venlaflaxine dose doubled and my anxieties more or less gone.

Sorry your feeling so rotten :face_without_mouth: I was like that too. Crying at everything but I can honestly say out of all the antidepressants I’ve tried over the years, including Setreline and Citalopram. Venlafaxine has helped me immensely.
