Vertigo

I have to say that I generally feel quite well of late, although fatigue is a constant problem. I'm down to 8mgs now. My big problem at the moment is vertigo and a feeling of light-headedness :weird: Is this yet another thing I can blame on the Prednisolone or the PMR? Or, I wonder, is this something unrelated to those two and maybe needs a quick visit to the GP? Anyone out there getting this? Its not constant, but once again this morning, when I got out of bed this morning I almost fell over and have felt light-headed all day. Its the feeling I get if I exceed my one glass of wine on a Saturday evening :redwine: (teetotal until age 53, so one glass is all it takes!). Hope everyone is having a good weekend and have a great trip to Scotland Mrs. K.

Yep, I get this and read that it's one of the side effects of taking Pred. It's like my BP takes a dive every once in awhile... usually when I stand up after sitting or driving in the car. I just have to stand there and hold on to something (or sit down for a minute) until it passes. The Dr. told me it was one of those '82 side effects' of taking Pred.

Not serious side effects may include:

* sleep problems (insomnia), mood changes;

* acne, dry skin, thinning skin, bruising or discoloration;

* slow wound healing;

* increased sweating;

* headache, dizziness, spinning sensation;

* nausea, stomach pain, bloating; or

* changes in the shape or location of body fat (especially in your arms, legs, face, neck, breasts, and waist).

Light headednes etc.

Yes, I had that for about a fortnight on and off. I was on 12.5 at the time. Along with the rapid pulse and weaknes I began to wonder whether my heart was having a hard time. No chest pain, though, so decided not to worry and it stopped along with the rubber legs and weakness. Don't know whether the reduction in dose or changing to bed-time instead of breakfast for my Pred. was what did it as they coincided. Pity, as it would be good to know what helps and what doesn't.

Rick: Don't you just love their idea of \"not serious side effects\". Do you think any doctors ever take Pred.? I bet they might reconsider which were serious if they did. BettyE

:D I suffered from severe vertigo before I was diagnosed with PMR and, when I started on Prednisolone 15mg, the vertigo decreased considerably so I put the vertigo down as part of PMR. However, having been on steroids for one month now I find that this horrible vertigo and lightheadedness comes on about an hour after taking the medicine in the morning. I am so glad to be rid of the pain and stiffness, though, I just put up with the unpleasant sensation because it usually goes away after a while. Before treatment, I felt really ill and exhausted all the time. Now that has mostly gone and I am grateful for that
