Hello all, So I posted a couple days ago about my constant shortness of breath and anxiety. Unfortunately the worry got to much for me and I visited ER. Upon arrival they did an ECG, all good. Blood pressure, abit high but not too high. A few different bloods, listened to my chest, chest X-ray and monitored my vitals for 3 hours. I was discharged. Within an hour of leaving all my symptoms presented themselves again and I am so upset. I keep second guessing the tests, worrying that something is wrong. All today I've been feeling tight chested and I keep dry heaving. Anyone else had second the results they've been given?
ive had tests done repeatedly. if your results were normal then youre fine. have peace of mind knowing that your test were good. its all anxiety. once i went to the ER because i felt my heart beating out my chest going 200mph, they out the machine on me while it was happening and it read a normal heart rate, it was all in my head.
This is par for the course for me what you describe. Now instead of rushing to the ER I deal with it and actually become frustrated with it. Then in an instant it’ll subside. This is when I realize that I would’ve wasted my time going to the ER and sort of gain relief in knowing that having patience and fighting it mentally paid off.
It’s a tough cycle when it happens and it does every so often. It also amazes me how I can be feeling to awful mentally and physically, like I’m going to pass and then 30mins to an hour later I’m perfectly fine.
Anxiety and stress is unique to each, but it always amazes me the affects of it. Anyway, good luck.
And by the way if you read up ECGs/EKGs are pretty comprehensive. If heart and oxygen levels are good and bloodwork…the panels they run are within range, that’s usually a very good sign.
you are fine. Absolutely fine. Anxiety can cause us to overthink and think negative thoughts and fearful thoughts. Your symptoms are extremely common with anxiety. What you need to do now is learn how to manage the anxiety because then you will have less symptoms or no symptoms.
When you tell your brain something is wrong, the brain will send out adrenaline and cause the symptoms you’re having.
The testing would have shown something was wrong but it did not
. Listen to some great meditations on YouTube for anxiety. They will calm you down .
also listen to some mindfulness breathing meditations. Proper breathing is key to managing anxiety and slowing down the heart rate. It’s not the symptoms that are the problem it’s the unmanaged anxiety.you’re going to be fine. Take care
hi, ive suffered with anxiety for years, I’ve been able to deal with it myself until recently i have the shortness of breath, sometime it feels like I’ve got a lump in my throat. I ended up in the ER had the same tests as you, all came back normal apart from blood pressure bit high but that’s fight or flight response. few days later I saw my dr who redid my ECG and bloods, again all come back normal. if anything sinister they would pick it up. I downloaded some anxiety breathing apps on my phone. and it’s helped for me. I potter about in the evening to keep my mind occupied. anxiety is a pain in the arse! but it’s something that can be sorted out . ![]()
thank you for replying and sharing your story with me.
Thank you for sharing your technique I will have to try it.
Thank you for the reassurance. I will definitely have a look on YouTube.
Thank you for telling me your story. I have been feeling very similsimilar.
I am feeling this way now because of the Coronavirus. After I had a mild fever almost 3 weeks ago now I was mentally “waiting” for the shortness of breath to come, and came it did.
Doctor tells me it’s all anxiety, but I am still not convinced. The last two weeks have been full or sleepless nights and I feel like my body is just going to crash.
