very confused?

I tested positive for IgM but negative for IgG, I was told this meant I was expieriencing a recently aquired herpes outbreak. I had maybe three sores around the entrence if my vagina. I was given a ten day regimine of valtrex and then suppressive teatment, this did absolutley nothing to help my sores and they even got worse and grew from the size of a pencil eraser to the size of a nickel. My first culture from that visit was inconclusive and when I went back they gave me antibiotics for a possible staph or bacterial infection and then did another swab test. Since then, my sores have cleared up amazingly, I no longer have pain and the skin is almost back to normal. My second culture swab came back negative for hsv and when I asked if I should continue to take suppresive treatment I was told yes because the IgM was positive. But I've heard that the IgM is almost 80% likley to show a false positive result. What should I do now? Do I have herpes or not?

Only your doctor is able to see and share your results. If you're not happy with their prognosis, get a second opinion. But before you see a doctor again research as much as possible so you stay informed and are ready to ask questions regarding Your symptoms.

This virus is the same but different and very thought provoking. It is scary due to the fact that there is not a cure, but make sure YOU TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF!

I would say not, but you can retest for IgG only at 3 months to reconfirm.

Humm that's odd...I have OB free for one week now! After months of steady OB I was giving up, seems like your case is different
