Very confused

Hi,

Sorry it's me again, just posting for some advice as not quite sure what to do. I have health anxiety and have recently posted about having a UTI infection. Well basically I have had a reoccuring UTI. My GP sent result Friday and I went to GP yesterday as I was struggling with visits to bathroom. The GP that I saw yesterday said to me that they have had a preliminary result and he prescribed me anti bios. Well since taking them my UTI became worse. So I have been back to the GP today and saw the locum and explained. He said to me the culture has come back and there has been no growth. So I guess that means no infection, but he gave me another anti biotic to try. What I don't understand is why prescribe with another anti bio if there is no infection. He also told me to drink lots of lemon barley and cranberry, which I have been drinking. I'm so confused do I take the new anti bios?.

Sorry it's long but I'm really confused and could do with some advice.

If your GP has given you Anti biotics you take the full dose and the full course it is   a good idea to take the full course of medications as your body   fights the condition with the help of the drug, if you fail to complete the course the bodies immune system will be possibly be  unable to fight future infections with that medication. That basically makes that antibiotic usless in the future and that becomes one antibiotic less to use in the fight against infections.

Thanks for replying so do you mean the new set that was given today?

You need to complete the course of antibiotics, you hav started a course, finish it, if you stop taking the first course and start on the next course you are reducing two antibiotic effectivness.

You can put your mind at rest by phoning your surgery tomorrow. When do you finish the first course of Antibiotics
