Very high blood pressure - no more!

I was diagnosed with BP of 186/90 earlier this year. I am female and 60. I was put on Bendro..whatsits i.e. water tablets, and my BP was monitored monthly. It came down a bit at first to 150/90 but just stuck there. My eating has always been very healthy and my weight has always been fine - I couldn't think what else to do. Then I hit on it - walking! I started to walk for an hour every day before breakfast. After only 5 weeks of doing this, by BP is down to 127/78!! Unbelieveable! Try it if you can.It really worked for me.

Hello jw52, great to hear some good news for a change, thanks for sharing it. Although I take a small dose of Candersartin (bp med) I have reduced from 8mg per day to 2mg per day by increasing my walking too.

So anyone out there with the same problem, give walking a go, it benefits your whole body and keeps you healthy.

Thankyou for such brilliant posts! Its so good to hear some encouragement. You have inspired me to get up off my backside and walk more. My BP is always borderline or a bit up and I'm not happy with it and rather anxious about it. I also eat healthily and weight within normal range (just). Off to find the dog lead, thanks again.

Bess.

Hi Bess,

Saw your post this morning. I'm thrilled to have given someone a push..Ha ha.

I have severe arthritis and a dicky ticky but am determined to keep on a going.

My hubby has also reduced his bp meds since we started taking an evening walk together (reminds us of our courting.. do they do that these days?) , we also talk more and really enjoy them.

Your dog must be thrilled too.. Happy walking... Fanny Jane
