About 3 weeks ago I felt a burning sensation go across my shoulders and up my neck. Like I pulled a muscle. A few minutes later I noticed I was a littl dizzy, thinking I was just tired after a long day I went to bed. Tuesday I woke and over the course of the day I had mild dizziness on and off. Overall I didn't feel that great. Wednesday the same thing but more often by Thursday I went to my dr. Because the dizziness was severe enough that I was interfering in my life. Friday I couldn't get our of bed. My mom came over and took me to the ER. The dizziness was so bad I couldn't focus on anything and bought I'd throw up, also light seemed so much brighter so I had to cover my eyes. In the ER they did an MRI and mra and found nothing, they haf a physical therapists do the epply maneuver and nothing. They gave me meclizine, Valium , benedryl and reglan . I slept, but when I woke I was still as dizzy. After 3 days in the hospital they released and yet I still have no answers. I seen an ENT and he said it was vestibular neuritis. I do my vestibular therapy and I have got back a little balance and I'm not as dizzy . Currently I feel like I've had too much to drink and I look like it too when I walk. It's been almost 3 weeks of this. I'm starting to get very depressed. I used to play tennis, ride my bike and drive my daughter all over the place, now I'm stuck at home or having to find someone to drive me. Is there an end to it? Is it coincidental that my neck buned right before I noticed the dizziness? I asked all the drs. If a neck injury could cause this and they all said no. I had whiplash years ago and see a chiropractor occasionally for neck manipulations. I'm considering seeing a chiro that does the NUCCA. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I am not sure if this will help but its a possibility that you might want to bring to the attention of your doctors a great deal of good reading here and diagrams as well

Hi Hun I've had labyrinthitis for 11 weeks. In the beginning I was just like you , very dizzy, vomiting etc. now I just feel sort of woozy/drunk which is worse when I'm tired. It will get better. 3 weeks is early days. Just try to keep active to allow your brain to compensate but don't overdo it. Rest when you need to. Keep well hydrated and eat regularly, but avoid lots of sugars and caffeine as that can make the dizziness much worse. I'm taking betahistine (Serc) 8mg three times a day, I was taking 16mg 3 times a day so have managed to reduce it. I'm getting there slowly, I do have off days but they are less frequent . The most troublesome thing for me now is the extreme fatigue. I'm tired ALL the time, it's horrible! Hang in there honey, you aren't alone xxxx
Hi, I m sorry that you have this condition,I wish I had the answer to our problems, it s so nice to talk to people who can relate to what I m talking about,it's took me six long years to find a doctor who understood what I saying and gave me the cawthorne cooksey exercises,it will be 2weeks tomorrow since I ve started them and think its changing things slightly, they make me feel very sick,my eyes ache and my balance is worse for a few hours after but the next morning I do feel more clear headed. For all these years I ve been petrified wondering what was wrong with me,why this has happened to me,but in the end it's just wasted energy I ve. Only just learned to accept this condition,I have learned that its the signals to my brain getting jumbled up that causes my anxiety, because your body realises adrenaline when it feels in danger, you re not in danger it's your brain playing tricks one you !!! I make sure I m dressed and I do housework as best as I can,yes I go dizzy,or walk funny, sometimes I m learning on a chair while making a cup of tea but I do it,it's all about training your brain that movement is normal. Don t get me wrong my life is nowhere near normal I can t travel in a car,I can t go to big shops,I get panic attacks all the time, but I ve realised I have to get my brain right before I can start to live normaly again.i hope some of what I ve said makes sense to you and helps you in some way,ask your doctor about some exercises to re train your brain,as each persons condition is different, you ve been poorly for a short time and you may make a quicker recovery.try to stay positive and smile through your dizziness, you re not alone 😀xx
