Vestibular rehab exercises

has anyone had any success with these.  I have been doing them religiously for the past 5 months with absolutely no improvement and possibly worsening of my symptoms. Should I persevere or just give up.  I saw an ENT consultant prior to starting them and he merely waved his finger in front of me , recommended these exercises and discharged me.  I am now waiting for anothe consultant appointment.  I am in the UK , and the NHS is failing dramatically.

Hi Julia.   It is important to see a vestibular rehab therapist prior to beginning any exercises, as he/she can figure out which ones pertain to your specific issue.  Did the ENT give you a diagnosis?

Hello there,

I think that the vestibular therapy can help to a certain degree but that most of it has to do with the body and brain readapting on it's own.  Keep up with the VRT as best you can.  It does start to feel worse at first because you are working your brain and it's trying to get use to this.  Have you had any vestibular testing?  A neuro-otologist is the best to see in the dizziness and inner ear problems.  Were you ill before you got dizzy?  I had a sinus infection that affected the inner ear.  It happend five years ago now. I hope you get better.

I have had much more success using the half somersault maneuver. You can Google it and find it and do it at home. You might have to repeat it a few times but it really works.

It is very important to start off slow. Don't push it. If you do to much, it will push back. Make you worse. It's also important to do them right. Turn your head to far right and left etc will make you worse. A rehab specialist can help you out alot. They are very knowledgeable.

Have you received a diagnosis?
