I have a 'vibrio plate' - one of my many QVC purchases which has been used as a clothes horse for 2 years - and am wondering if to get rid of it, or will I be able to use it with TKR? (it's like a block you stand on and it vibrates at different speeds, supposedly exercising your muscles more intensely).
I've tried googling but can't find anything at all to answer this.
Hi Susan,
At my PT there is a piece of equipment that sounds similar. I asked what it was for. The OT told me they use it to help sore muscles....ie after long runs etc. he told me that it will never be for me as I have had bilateral TKR, because the shaking is not good for the cement used in the surgery, mad it could loosen it. If he is correct, I would give away that piece of equipment.
Even before I had my tkr I was advised not to use this and also when I had my bad shoulde . It's not safe. I'd say Get rid of it. Ghere are other better ways of strengthening and toning albeit a bit slower.
Look at power plates contra indications it clearly states not to be used after hip or knee replacements. Type in 'who cannot use vibration plates' for info
no no no forget that and put it on ebay to hard on your knees
