Violent suicidal thoughts, but not suicidal

Whenever I get frustrated, I get intense, violent suicidal thoughts.  But I'm not suicidal. I don't want to die.  But all it takes for things in my head to get out of control is something not too significant that frustrates me such as difficult schoolwork or not losing a few matches in a video game.  Things like that.  I pull at my own hair, cry, rock back and forth, and I imagine things like shooting myself in the head or stabbing myself.  Sometimes I hit/slap/punch myself.  It's all immediate impulsive reactive thoughts.  And no matter what it is I could be doing, I always end up feeling like an incompetent, worthless, useless waste of space. I dont really know what is the cause of this issue.  I know I have anxiety problems but its heavier in the social aspect, and I feel this is something else.  Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Hi whitneym

We note from a recent post which you have made to our forum that you may be experiencing thoughts around self-harm. If we have misinterpreted your comments then we apologies for contacting you directly. But if you are having such thoughts then please note that you are not alone in this, and there are people out there that can help.

If you are having these suicidal thoughts then we strongly recommend you speak to someone who may be able to help. The Samaritans offer a safe space where you can talk openly about what you are going through. They can help you explore your options, understand your problems better, or just be there to listen.

Their contact details are on our patient information leaflet here: https://patient.info/health/dealing-with-suicidal-thoughts, which also offers lots of other advice on how you can access the help you may need.

If you are having such thoughts then please do reach out to the team at the Samaritans (or the other people detailed in our leaflet) who will understand what you're going through and will be able to help.

Kindest regards

Patient

Hi Whitney🙆

If you hit others too. It could be tourettes. "Only if you can't control these reactions and it happens without your control." If it's not your case you're depressed and are self harming. I get those thoughts too when frustrated or angry, irritated. When I'm angry I get suicidal thoughts but I know its the depression making me feel this way. Angry and sad. I would say you're under a lot of stress right now that's why you are getting easily frustrated. You need to seek help immediately, don't harm yourself. Talk to the school counselor if you can. Tell your parents this too.👍 You need Therapy they will find out the underlying cause.💖Good Luck
