Vision is like before I had cataract surgery post YAG

i had cataract surgery last year and then YAG surgery 4 weeks ago. since the YAG, my vision has decreased in quality, like how it was before even having cataract surgery. glare is REALLY bad, and its just cloudy, i notice the cloudiness more in low light settings.

Does anyone know what this could be? Could some there be residue from what he lasered in YAG be obstructing my vision? I am seeing my doctor again soon but im worried its something bad

There are apparently two different approaches to YAG. One is to cut a circular hole in the capsule except for a small attachment point I believe at the bottom. The expectation is that the circular part drops down and out of sight. But, possibly it does not in some cases. The other method is to cut a cross shape so there are 4 flaps that have to fold back and out of the way. Again in some cases they may not cooperate. In any case I would expect they can see what has happened and perhaps correct with another YAG procedure.

I’ve read that cross pattern rather creates light stripes not overall glare

Got the same problem after my YAG yesterday.

I have my consult re PCO/YAG next week for one eye. I will have lots of questions.

When the flap from the “can opener” (aka circular) technique doesn’t fall down the result would be a large disturbing floater not glare. Glare could result in low light (large pupil) if the hole (regardless of the technique) wasn’t big enough. I think I’ve read that the goal is about a 4.5mm opening.

There seems to be a modified can opener technique which involves cutting remaining fibers with the laser after the main circular cut is made.
.
The one think I keep in mind is that millions of these YAG procedures are being done, and the very large majority turn out well. We just hear about the ones that go badly. My thoughts are that I have essentially zero experience with the procedure and I will be highly likely to go with what the expert that does the procedure recommends.
