I have been diagnosed. Some days eyes are dry, others watery, tear film gets blurry and cloudy and sometimes my actual vision is blurry. Eye apt tomorrow. Right now just do compresses when i can stand them as they make my eyes cloudy etc for hours after. I was useing refresh eyedrops, however i notice when i used them before bed Id wake up with bloodshot eyes. Have since read that with dry eyes we often have more salt in our tears, these drops contain more salt so read that can make problem worse. Anyway, anyone else that has or had the same problems and any advice? my eye doctor said she is sarcastic so majorly dreading this probably non preductive exam. Also, should i have my eyes dialated or not ??thanks. Need answers asap.Xx
Also,i sometimes express the glands after compresses..more blur, wash my lids with clear water and take fish oil 3 caplets a day.
Hopefully you are going to an opthamologist, not an optometrist. The Refresh drops I use Plus and Celluvisc which are gel like) are preservative free so can be used often. My eyes are not bloodshot, but sometimes are almost glued shut in he morning when I wake up. I use the baby shampoo wash (diluted with water and 2 or 3 drops of tea tree oil) every morning and night to clean my eyelashes and also use a rice bag heated in the microwave twice a day which soothes my eyes. The light really bothers my eyes so I have not found a solution to that other than to wear sunglasses in the house which helps sometimes. Best of luck!
Thank you. I wear the sunglasses in the house alot also. Xx
Have you tried Hylo Forte drops lee? Preservative free.I get them on prescription as the are £14 to buy from chemist.. Good luck with your appointment, let us know how you go on
Are the available in the U S ?
Have you found anything else to help with the light sensitivity other than sunglasses?
Just slightly dimming the tv. Low lighting when possible. I love the sun,we have a large picture window in our living room, first thing in the morning I would let the sun in,i feel like a vampire. I wear glasses thinking of trying a transition lens as i believe they have a new one that responds to indoor light with a slight tint. Also thinking of adding a slight tint to my regular glasses.
lee you are the first person that I have read having the very same
symptoms as myself. My eyes are very blurry. I am seeing a new
eye doctor that deals with dry eyes and blephritis - I go to see him
this next week and he says he has a new treatment for blephritis.
It has something to do with heat applied - not sure how or anything
like that right now - but it is applied on the top part of the cheek. It takes several treatments. The first treatment releases a lot of stuff from the
eyelash gland. Second treatment even more is released and the third treatment then has only the oil that we need for comfort and vision. Then, it is only a treatment ever so often - not sure but I think maybe a yearly or six month treatment to keep everything good. I am so excited about this lee because I have been dealing with this problem for many years to no avail. My eyelashes or just about all gone. Hard to wear makeup and have my eyes look good anymore. I have some lashes that grow under and scratch my eye and I have to keep those pulled out. If you would like to keep in touch, I would be glad to let you know how this new treatment worked for me. The doctor is a very good
opthmalogist here so - not a quack or anything like that. lol Oh, BTW
my doctor does dilate my eyes from time to time. Makes my blurring worse most of the day but I just have to plan on not doing anything that day. Such a pain....
Please do stay in touch, would love to know the name of the treatment and how it works for you. Xx
Sorry Lee,not sure,I'm in UK
I sure will. I will find out the name, etc. Are you in the US.
I would also like to know the treatment. I don't have the blurry vision, but do have extreme light sensitivity.
Best of luck to you on this treatment!
Yes,are you?I cancelled eye exam as this doctor is veryyyy sarcastic, going to my regular doc next week,he was on vacation this week at this point im thinking doxcyciline might be my next try.
Do you use any eye drops? If so what?
Thank u Cheryl. I will sure let u know. Keep ur fingers crossed for me.
Yes. Lots of them. Sustain ultra. Thera tears. Refresh. Refresh Optive. I use refresh ointment at night. I also have a Refresh Gel I use at night. My doctor also gives me a prescription for Tobredex drops which is a steriod and I can't use very often but I love this. Takes away the redness and makes the eyes more comfortable. This doctor that is going to do my treatment has me on doxycycline.
Please do keep us updated on your treatment and what it is called. All of us with Bleph and MGD are desparate for information to help us.
I certainly will Becky. If this works for me I will shout it to the world. lol
I have put up with this condition now for years and I am sooo tired.
I have tried everything under the sun and it is a constant battle, as I know
it is for everyone that has it. Hang in there and I will let you know.
Hi Cheryl, I told you I would let you know about the treatment. I found out I am going to have to have a tear duct cleaned out before I can do the treatment. Anyway, I will tell you about it and maybe you can look into it. You may have heard of it but just in case it is called IPL (Intense Pulse Light). This has been something they have been studying for 5 or 6 years and it started with acne patients that had laser done on their faces for acne - coming back and saying how they could see better. This is where it started. Anyway, I have a website that you can go to and see videos of it being done and this doctor that, I think, started it. He is very good and people go to him from all over. He is in Memphis Tenn. His name is Rolando Toyos.
Anyway, the guy that will be doing my treatment says it is 300.00 per treatment and they are a month a part and you may have to have as many as four. After each treatment they take a Q tip and express the gland where the eyelashes are and get all this yucky stuff out. It's amazing to see it. You'll just have to look at it. It is very exciting. The guy from Memphis said his success rate was 99%. Isnt that wonderful. Just wanted to tell you this and let you know I haven't forgot about you. Margaret
