As things are at the moment do you think it would be best to cancel or am i worrying too much?
I agree and would cancel until this pandemic settles down.
I went to the dentist yesterday and it was fine. The surgery staff had been cleaning all the surfaces thoroughly, as per guidelines. They had contacted all their patients and told them not to attend their appointments if they had symptoms or felt unwell. They were doing their best to keep themselves and their patients safe. I would go if you need treatment.
I think even dentists are working here in Italy - no-one else is though! But it depends what it is for doesn’t it? If it is just a check up or clean then it will wait a few months, if it is a filling it won’t. And it is months we are talking about I suspect.
I live in the US and my dentist and dental hygenists all wear masks and gloves. I certainly would not postpone an acute problem. Come to think of it an appointment might be easier to get.

For both the benefit of the patient and the doctor’s office IMO all elective treatment should be deferred and appointments should be limited to acute situations.
If it’s something that’s needed then go, if it’s a routine checkup maybe put it on hold, but to my mind, any good dentist would be good with hygiene anyway, so its not the worst thing I’d be afraid of!
How are you doing Eileen? Scary situation with everything locked down in Italy. Have you been able to get groceries and medication ok? Wishing you all the very best and stay safe💕
I was awaiting the completion of my root canal and crown treatment. The temporary crown had already fallen out earlier in the week, so I only had a stump that was uncomfortable when I was eating. The dentist wanted to complete the treatment as soon as possible, so I actually had someone else’s cancelled appointment yesterday. I probably wouldn’t have gone if it had just been a routine check-up. I felt safe there though.
Right on Rocketman, why take a change better to be safe than sorry!![]()

All food shops including butchers and bakers are open - with not an empty shelf in sight! Pharmacies are also open. Social distancing is the rule - and everyone is staying at home except to go to work.
Thank you all for your replies.
Eileen I wish you well as we understand things are very
tough in Italy.
Stay safe x
Dentist for routine matters? I am canceling my appointment.
Agree with Rocketman. No unnecessary meetings at this time.
Eileen: healthy wishes to you and yours. Surreal, tough times.
Hoping for the best.

Eileen, I’m hoping you have all the essentials while you hunker down. Here in Vermont, there is no toilet paper, makes me think people need to do something, why not stock up? I don’t get it. I happened to be out, but I have soap and water.
Our dentists upped their game way back when HIV was the big issue so they are very accustomed to taking all precautions.
I have just been at a dental hygienist in Sweden. As you said people cancel their appointments and she wore a mask and had gloves. I asked her to write my code as several other persons had paid before to-day
However I’ve just received a phone call saying that my already twice deferred appointment (once my fault for booking a trip away without my calendar and once because the dentist wasn’t there so I only got my cleaning) has been cancelled. i asked to be put at the top of their list when they get back on track as it has been over a year since my last dental appointment and I have some worries. Sigh. The appointment was for tomorrow morning. Double sigh.
No panic buying here - full shelves and no queues and empty supermarket! But it is um, interesting …
