My ordeal started about 4 months ago, I had unprotected sex and a painless sore appeared on the head of my penis and over the course of about a week, multiple bumps similar to that of a pimple that was still under the skin started appearing under my foreskin.
I had developed around 8 bumps and the sore on the head of my penis over the course of about a week. All of which remained painless and did not change or ulcerate in that time. I also experienced some odourless white thick discharge.
The doctor took one look and said the word herpes, my heart sunk! He prescribed a 5 day course of valtrex. However, this did not appear to work and a couple more bumps appeared under my foreskin before they all started clearing about 5 days after medication finished.
Since then I have been experiencing some severe redness on the head of my penis for around 3 months. I applied a yeast infection cream based off research i did online and its has worked immediately. Although, i appear to experience swelling/discomfort from time to time.
I am curious to think if I have had a yeast infection all along since valtrex wasnt particular effective and i displayed no signs of ulceration or blistering during my breakout. I am annoyed at my doctor for not taking a swab!
