Vit d3 question

Hi everyone I started taking vit d3 to help with my anxiety and dizziness but I have read that it uses up magnesium in your body which then causes magnesium deficiency and all the side effects that go with it including dizziness. Should I take a magnesium supplement with vit d3? I also read you should take vit A and K with it. Now I'm really confused, can anyone advise please? Thank you.

Hi meril , yes vitamin K along with low dosage of magnesium , unless you eat foods high in magnesium , uf nit supplements in magnesium 300mg and K 100mg … Should keep the balance

If not ***

Can i ask you what you VD levels are ?

Hi Vicky
I don’t know what they are. I don’t get much sun and I don’t eat many foods that contain d3 like liver, fatty fish and cheese (migraines). Eggs make me feel out of sorts. I thought I’d give them a try because I couldn’t see any harm in it. I take citalopram and as far as I know there is no interaction. I’m weaning off citalopram hence the dizziness. So do you think it will be ok for me to take d3 and add magnesium?

Yes very safe Meril . Both will also help your dizziness . Start with only 5000 iu a day of vitamin D3 , Dont take vitamin D2 as it doesnt absorb very well .

My d3 is 1000 I.U. per tablet. and it says to take one a day. I have some chelated magnesium 100 mg tablets which I found in my cupboard, it says to take 4 a day. I tried them a while back but didn’t give them a chance to do anything and stopped taking them . Do you think one a day of each will be ok?
Thanks so much for your help.

Yes since we dont know what your levels are its best to take a low dose . Plus you will get some in foods. There isnt enough vitamin D in foods to count as a form . Youre very welcome Meril , keep us updated

Thank you so much, I will try both and will keep you updated.

Meril,

Your doctor would advise on this. I was vitamin d3 deficient and was told it might be required to supplement for the rest of my life. He did inquire about lifestyle as well and suggested the best method would be sun exposure, considering I hardly got any due to job/long hours. Not for long periods as it’s not needed with regard to sun exposure, but he mentioned half an hour or a good walk daily might be all that’s needed to raise levels. And, if exposure doesn’t correct the low levels then supplementing and rechecking levels every 6mos to tweak if needed would be necessary.

from what I read, vit E should cause no issues, anyway, that’s what I made of what I read, research on line.
