Vit E Oil

Hi everyone, I've just been looking at Holland and Barrett website and you can get Vit E Oil in bottles there only its a lot more iu than the capsules I got in boots, which are 400 iu. Perhaps worth looking at?

What does iu stand for?

Not sure Sus but I am thinking it must be to do with the strength of the liquid. May enquire about it and will come back here later.

International unit of measurement.

Ok thanks for that Beverly. Measurement of what, I wonder? Some of the bottles of Vitamin E in Holland and Barrett were as high as 30,000 iu ! So it makes me wonder if they would be too strong to use and do more harm than good.

Thanks for that

It says its a measure of biological activity rather than quantity when I looked it up on Google just now.

Sorry, I am not sure

what that means?

the biological activity?

No I'm not either. I will have to look that up too so will get back here later or tomorrow if I find anything about it.

Ok thanks. That's kind

Sorry Sus, I forgot about it today. If I remember tomorrow after my eye test, I will check it out.

An iu is used to measure fat - soluble vitamins. Vitamins A, D and E are measured using international units to calculate recommended intakes, deficiencies and toxicities for healthy people. Recommendations vary on age and gender . I found this on the web. I'm not sure where the biogical activity fits in there Sus. But that is another answer I just found. Hope this helps.

Thanks Shirley

Complicated eh?

Let's hope it does us all some good

Yes let's hope it does us all some good. I'm suffering tonight I don't mind admitting. Having said that I've not got any oil up inside yet. Will have to use some before I go to bed. It really is most uncomfortable isn't it. Also, I am going to see Doctor about it tomorrow. Will have to tell her I stopped taking Vagifem on Sunday. Also at the same time I have the problem that I feel like l want to wee all the time. I want to get rid of that feeling too.

Good luck at the doctors shirley

when I get that wanting to wee all the time I drink one cystocalm (they are £1 for a pack of six from £1 shop or 99p shop or similar shop) and it often diminishes the feeling for me.

Hi Sus, Thanks for that. I have never heard of cystocalm before. But I will certainly be down at the £1 shop or 99p shop over the weekend to get some. It is so annoying isn't it wanting to wee when you've just had one. Then when you go, hardly anything happens! Anyway I will see what doc says today. I just don't want to end up going to see a urologist so I will explore other options first. Thanks again. :-)
