Vitamin c

Since I was diagnosed with barretts a few months ago, I have stopped taking the vitamin c supplements that I used to take everyday. This is due to all the citric acid contained in them.  I have started following the Jamie Koufman 'dropping acid' diet. However I now find that I am getting cold after cold without the vitamin c. I have 2 young children and I also look after other people's children and seem to r catching everything from them, which I never did before. The dropping acid diet doesn't permit much fruit, mainly bananas and melons, although lots of vegetables, but I feel like I'm lacking in vitamin c. Does anybody have any suggestions....?

Dear Clare

I haven't heard of this 'dropping acid' so I don't know too much. You could go to your doctor and asked to be referred dietician or even ask to see the practice nurse if you have one at your surgery

Clare you can make a very nice brekkie smoothie. One avocado, one banana and 1/3 of a can of coconut milk. Very soothing! I also add two teaspoons of physillium husks to keep regular. I think you are spot on with how important Vitamin C is. I stopped it and started getting really bad gout. This is mostly caused by low Vit C. Went back on it and gout went away. Whenever I get a raw/sensitive throat I suck on a tablespoon of coconut oil. This is also a brilliant bacteria fighter and a very safe fat I believe.
