Vitamin D Deficiency -anyone ever get better?

I am 35 and had dizziness, headaches, head pressure, neck pain, hair thinning, fast heat rate and high bp at times, tingling in legs, fatigue, anxiety and more. I was diagnosed with low vitamin d my level was 18.1 I have been taking 50,000 iu weekly of vitamin D 2 and a week ago I started a multivitamin that has 3,000iu of vitamin d3. Some days I think wow I’m getting better finally and then a day or two later bam symptoms are back. I have had mri, ctscan, X-rays, bloodwork, seen specialists and the only thing they can find is low vitamin D. How long did it take you guys to overcome this? Anyone ever get better? Does anyone have these symptoms? This is no quality of life. I’m so tired of being sick. These last 6 months have been awful and I’m glad I know what’s wrong but I wish there was a shot you could get and be all better. Please let me know if anyone has or is going they this and how you did it. 

Hi Why were you put on Vit D2 and not Vitamin D3?

D3  and D2 are the two most important forms for your health. Vitamin D2 is produced by plants, and Vitamin D3 is the one made by your skin when you get enough sunlight. Fortified foods can contain either form. ... So either choose a Vitamin D3 supplement, or one which contains optimal levels of both forms.

I prefer the the sunshine which makes D3🌞 There is actually a scale to use for how  long to be in the sunshine for beneficial D3. See scale online for 15 minutes and amt of skin exposure is developed for essential vitamin D impact.

What you describe could be typical of an autoimmune disorder. Vit D deficiency can be a sign of having one which is causing symptoms rather than the vit D being the actual cause. Have you seen a rheumatologist? 

Has your Thyroid gland been checked out?

Important to rule out overactive Thyroid with these symptoms.

Hi ashley45849 I have low vitamin D to be honest unless you are getting plenty if sunlight there is not much can be done. I was told by a doctor not my designated doctor to go abroad for two weeks. I've had hair that hasn't grown, major bouts of depression, fatigue. The only thing I could suggest is trying some gentle excercises stretching or hydrotherapy. The only thing that will help is continuous sunlight. Sorry it's not better news.

Maxine I just joined a group that has been very helpful. I found taking the D2 wasn’t helping and they suggested D3 and magnesium wland vitamin K. I switched 3 days ago to 20,000 iu of vitamin d 3 daily and I have faith that this will help me. Ive ordered the other 2 vitamins. A lot of drs are not educated in nutrition and don’t know the symptoms and correct treatment. There is a group in Facebook that you might find useful for vitamin d deficiency. I hope we all start feeling better soon! I have had my thyroid and b12 checked and no other issues. So I’m praying this gets better soon. And yes sunlight is the best! I will try to get it everyday that it’s out. Good luck! 

Yes it has and I was just told it was normal. I go to my dr tomorrow and I’m going to ask for the levels so I can see where they are at. 

I have not. I am going to treat the vitamin d and see how it goes from there. But I’m not ruling out anything else. I have had so many test and thankfully vitamin d is the inly thing that’s came back so far. I switched to vitamin d3 daily a few days ago so I hope this helps! 

Idk why my dr put me in D2. I don’t think they are very educated in this area. I stopped the D2 3 days ago and switched to daily dose of D3 10,000 iu. 

I don’t believe that your symptoms are due to low Viramin D levels. 

These are seen in upto 50% of people in whom it is checked. 

I would recommend an auto immune profile including checking for Cealic Disease.

I will mention it to my dr tomorrow when I go. I have be healthy up until this point. I appreciate your suggestions. I do see that a lot of other ppl with the vitamin D deficiency also have the same symptoms. I hope there isn’t something else wrong. Do you have vitamin d deficiency as well? 

Sorry - that is not true. Supplements do as good a job as sunshine - better for most people. And they aren't expensive. It is about the only vitamin supplement that is worth using.

Hi Eileen H I cannot take supplements because I take warfarin so supplements does not suit all. Getting some sunshine is good and if the English weather is kind to us this year I will be making sure I take advantage of it.

I take warfarin and my anti coagulant clinic has said I can take supplements .Except vitamin K of course!!

Hi Maxine, who has told you that vitamin D and Warfarin are counter indicative? I don’t think this is mentioned as a problem anywhere, in fact they are considered as pairing well together.

No I haven’t. But I found a group on Facebook and I have been looking into the protocol. I ordered the vitamins and switched to d3 so I hope for some improvements 

Not all supplements are contraindicated with anticoagulant therapy and vit D is fine with it - my husband has been on warfarin for years and so have I. Vit K is the only one you have to be careful with - and providing you eat vit K containing foods regularly even that isn't a problem. It is binging on such foods at irregular intervals that poses a problem. Eat dark green veg every day or every second day and get the INR sorted on that sort of regular diet and it is not a problem. It is only the UK that gets uptight about it - my doctors in Italy had never come across it.
