Hi All,
Has anyone paid to have their hair analyised to see if they are deficient in vitamins/minerals - food allergies etc? Have seen websites (Im in the UK) and just wondered if they are worth paying out for (about £50) or do you think its all nonsense ?! Thank you x
Hi Claire
I definately don't think they are nonsense but haven't come across it that cheap, you have to make sure the lab you use doesn't wash the hair. Join the magnesium advocacy group on FB they are all about hair testing you can get it through them and Morley will also interpret it for you and give you all the help you need and what you need to do to get back in balance.
Hi, Kellie,
I suffer from lichen sclerosis which is linked to autoimmune system. How would magnesium and hair analysis help with this condition, I wonder?
Hello...I would like to know about magnesium too, but I am not on FB and don't want to be. Does that group have any other outlet for their information? Since I joined this forum, I have tried or am prepared to try several new things to help with my LS. I am anxious for any little bit of information that may help keep it under control. Since about a year into my treatment (clobetasol) I have developed such high blood pressure that I am going to have to start on med. I have always had low bp and never even a hint of a problem. I am wondering if the LS disease itself has anything to do with raising bp? It seems odd to develop it so late in life after having low bp forever before. I don't' think it is the clobetasol, but maybe it is the disease itself?
Maybe I should have started a new discussion here, instead of adding it to my question about magnesium......but that's me, I guess. A day late and a dollar short.............
From what I have learned from the FB group magnesium is the master mineral which being deficient in makes all other minerals in our body out of whack. Going to inbox you some reading as I can't put links up, it's long.
Have thought about it for a long while but never get there. I often have itchiness of the scalp although since I changed to non soap and dermatologist tested shampoos and conditioners, the itchiness has gone away.
There are hair specialists called Trichologists who are hair specialists and their testing is abit more involved.
They can be a little bit on the expensive side as you need to have regular visits and use their products.
No I don't have a problem with my hair! Companies test your hair to see what vitamins etc you might be deficient in, they can apparently test for food allergies too.
Hi Clare. Yes i have done it and instead of deficiencies it came back that i had about 5 or 6 heavy metal toxicities. My Dr followed through with blood tests but it came back they were old toxic exposures probably from childhood. I was meant to have chelation therapy to try improve the toxin levels but the costs are prohibitive so i still have all the toxins in my bones etc. cant say it helped me at all doing it other than adding more stress worrying about early onset dementia because of it.
Wilma.
Oh gosh, thats not good!! You poor thing, try not to worry. I bet most people would test the same. Seems a bit redundant doing it then, if its going to show something up from years ago!
Sorry Clare that is only my story. Yours may be completely different.
Good luck with what ever you choose to do.
Wilma.
Would say it is ok to do it for fun but not seriously. There wsa a survey done where a sample of hair was taken to various plces and the same samkple of hair gave a different result at each.
