Hi Michelle

I came off hrt 3 weeks ago to try the natural route. I'm taking a multivitamin for women aged 50+, St John's Wort and Black Cohosh. I have to say that my symptoms have improved and I'm feeling very positive for the first time in about 3 years. I hope this helps. Take care.

I like flax meal because it balances out my hormones and symptoms go away or diminish. Put it in cereal, smoothies and yogurt.

I also like taking Hesperidince for hot flashes.

Michelle,

Have you had your iron level checked? Some of your symptoms sound like anemia which is what I have from heavy periods.

Nancy

I only take vitamins B12 & D.

Hi Michelle I take d3 b6 and menopace. I use clary sage for hot flashes.

I'm having my iron levels tested next week. Thankyou x

Hi Michelle

Top of the list Vit D3 (most of us are deficient in D3), Magnesium with B6 (ditto, due to soil depletion), Vit C (rosehip), raw cider vinegar, omega 3 and coconut oil. I also have some linseeds with my breakfast and I have recently started taking a non GM soy supplement.

I don't take calcium as I get plenty in my diet. I tried Black Cohosh but it made me feel weird (happens to some folk)

I would say go easy on the gaviscon and lansoprazole - not good in the long run. Since I cut down on bread and 'pastries' (wheat) I get hardly any acid reflux.

I have read that Cat's Claw is good for muscle and joint pain, so we have just ordered some - I'll let you know how it goes on.

Oooh! Before I forget - Probiotic capsules! Capsules have more types of bacteria and survive into the gut better than yoghurt drinks.

I know I come over as a bit of a know it all in these matters, but My OH and I have got so sick of feeling sxxxxy (me with menopause and him Diabetes) that we have decided to do something about it and have done a lot of research. It's working!

Hi michelle

Have you ever herad of One A Day multivitamin for menopause it has everything in there that women need for menopause symptoms. It also has soy which is good for night sweats. I have been on this vitamin and it helps me relax and sleep at night with my zoloft, ativan, trazedone and lamotrigine. I take the multivitamin at dinner with my ativan then at bedtime i take my zoloft, another ativan, my trazedone and lamotrigine

Check it out its called One A Day multivitamin for menopause

Elizabeth

Thanks for your detailed reply. I take Busy B vitamins, extra b6 and b12. I take magnesium and D3. I don't know what strength D3 I should be taking though ?

I will do tomorrow. Thanks for your advice x

I did try Menopace, but it didn't agree with me.

I did try sage but 3 a day only made a little difference. But I was talking to a friend today. She is a Pharmasist and is going through the menopause. So she is testing things on herself. She said the variety of sage leaf I was using was not as good as another one which she used.

So the thing is to go for the big names, (not the well advertised ones you find in supermarkets) but the 'specialists'.

The RDA for Vit D is woefully small. My friend was tested and found to be very deficient she started taking Bio 3,000iu, then reduced it to 1,000iu - that's what I take. Seems to work!

Thankyou. I will get some D3 tomorrow. There must be over £100 pounds worth of supplements in my cupboard, lol x

The time to worry is when you start rattling when you move.

Yes well that could be sooner rather than later, lol. I've got a whole cupboard with my vitamins and supplements in.

My husband calls it my cupboard 😃

You ladies crack me up.
