Vitamins for better healing of ankles

Hi there, does any one have any advice on what vitamins/tablets to take that they felt helped with their healing post ankle surgery?

I have been trying to take Turmeric/Curcumin Tablets, Calcium and Fish Oil 

Just wondering if anyone had any experiences taking any of these or other ones that really helped?

I just had a ORIF/bimalleolar fracture one week ago.

I would agree with the calcium supplements but I would avoid Tumeric and Circumin since they have anti-inflammatory properties. This is not good in your first few weeks post surgery. 

I’ve been advised by my Saudi Orthopedic surgeon to add Fenugreek and Mung beans to soup as they have bone healing qualities. 

Good luck with the recovery. I’m almost six weeks post surgery for the same procedure.

I was told by my surgeon to stop my regular anti-inflammatory meds after my surgery (I have AS) and they could affect the healing process 

I have also had ankle surgery and have been encouraged to drink bone broth every day for its remarkable healing properties.  I actually had made some several months ago to help my arthritis and had stopped drinking it. Because I had to stop my regular arthritis meds (anti inflammatories) I have gone back to bone broth. You can buy it in health food stores and drink it or (as I do) just add it to other things like you would regular broth. I made some soup with it last night that was really good by adding some chopped onion, ginger, a little hot sauce, soy, and a few egg noodles. Took about 10 minutes. You can just drink it plain also which is what a lot of people do...but regardless of how you do it, it will really help in your healing and just be good for you overall!

Obviously there is a lot of confusing info on what to take to hasten recovery after surgery.

Contrary to another opinion, I believe antioxidants like curcumin will cut down inflammation and speed recovery. To be sure, some inflammation is part of the healing process after major trauma like surgery. But at your stage I would expect you need plenty of antioxidants to control inflammation.

Besides curcumin, I would be taking a good, natural-sourced multivitamin daily to cover all the bases. Then I would add clean protein (collagen is great), a balanced calcium/magnesium/Vit D combo, some K2 to make sure all the calcium goes to the bones instead of where it should not go (like arteries), as much Vit. C as you can tolerate (important for collagen and bone synthesis, as well as inflammation and stress), and CoQ10.

Keep your diet nutrient-dense and clean (no junk).
