Good evening. I have a hiatus hernia, had chronic acid into the throat until I went on meds and I have oesophagitis and the bottom of my esophagus. A question I have though, anybody with this condition notice a sort of croakyness to your voice at certain tones? I mean it doesn't come and go, it's always there depending what tone I am using. It seems to happen when more volume is used. Just curious that's all, I'm not really concerned so I'm not here looking for reasurance or anything. Would just like to share what I experience and see if anybody else can relate.

That happened to me, but when I use PPIs then the croakyness went away, are you taking PPIs, what dosage are you on, how long do you have this condition?
Hello mike - yes my voice is affected. Actually ears, nose and throat. Have had a recent specialised test which indicted acid going up to the nose and into the lungs - So week after next taking the plunge and have the fundoplication op.
Hi, I am only taking Lansoprazole 30mg. It's completely cured the awful heartburn however sometimes I wake up swallowing acid so I'm certain it is stil present. I do not have a sore throats ever or anything. Just the croak in the voice at certain tones. Had it for near on a year now
Hi, which test did you have that indicated this? Does it affect your lungs at all?
Not sure of the name of the test, but it involved drinking a clear radioactive material (no nasty taste to it, went down easily). It takes a couple of hours - you drink the stuff - then do part of the test and come back an hour or so later for the remainder. it measures the movement of food through the stomach and checks how far the acid is rising. In my case lungs and up to nose, I dare say on another day it would have found it in the ears as well as I get symptoms there as well. Lung wise I do feel as though I can't take a deep breath. The doc said it would only get worse, so I have opted to have op - he said that respiratory symptoms such as miine take a little longer to settle after the op - hope it is worthwhile in the long run.
