Voldoxin

Hi I have being on voldoxin for five days, I'm coming off lexapro will be off it completely in a few days. I suffer with GAD, and major depression for three years. I would like to know anyone's experience with voldoxin. I'm also taking propranolol.

Hi Michael. I'm guessing you mean Valdoxan (I googled voldoxin and it gave me valdoxan). Yes, I've been on it for 9 weeks now. I did post a few weeks back but no one seemed to know much.

I've had severe anxiety and phobia-related OCD for as long as I remember and I've had a few phases of depression, though I wouldn't say I was a depressive. Within 3 weeks, my depression had dropped from 8/10 to 2/10 and any depression I get now is caused by normal emotions and stresses. My anxiety is improved - I suspect a lot is to do with confidence after so long - and I'd describe it as manageable. I feel more animated than in a long time and people say how well I'm looking. I have gained a bit of weight (a good thing for me) though my appetite isn't good and sleep is very light, with technicolor dreaming. Another downside is I get muscular pain, like arthritis, in my hands, legs and feet.

I experienced none of the horrid effects of starting a new medication (I was weaning myself off citalopram when I started a low dose of valdoxan) and, so far, I would say I'm happy to stay on it. Unfortunately my NHS Trust has it red-flagged as hospital use only (NICE regulations are changing this month) so the only way I can get it is by private prescription so it costs a bomb (until I work out it's no more than a few coffee and cakes a week).

I was on valdoxan several years ago and quite happy with it until NICE regulations meant my GP could no longer prescribe it. I have tried all sorts since then, always with unpleasant side effects or with no lasting impact so it was a distinct choice I made to return to Valdoxan. I have my fingers crossed. I hope you respond to it well - I know it is well-tolerated with fewer side effects and none of the mind-fug some SSRIs cause.

Hope this helps.

Thanks very much Jan, yes valdoxan is what I mean, predictive text ha. There doesn't seem to be much information on it at all. Glad your doing well. My seep has improved quiet a lot. Just wait and see over the next few weeks

After failing zoloft and other ssri meds i have read about valdoxan and have asked for it.  Psych says it is not possible as it has liver toxicity problems.  Is it because im over 60? Do you know what the NICE guidelines will be updated to say?  I really want to try this as i cant seem to tolerate others.  Any help about this would be great

I am on Valdoxan about 6 months now after coming off SSRI's after a long time, was on Lexapro 20mg in recent times and I have to say am feeling a lot better, my brain is clearer.

I was on 25mg Valdoxan for 3-4 mths and then increased to 50mg.

Still suffering with Anxiety and occasional panic attacks but my depression has improved

Are you in uk? I dont understand why i cant have this med as others seem to get it.  Maybe younger more recently educated drs.
