I have been reading that VRT causes more dizziness, is it lasting dizziness or just while doing the exercises? I don't know why but I'm concerned with this. I guess because the dizziness causes me anxiety so I'm a bit worried.
Thanks

Just to be clear, I don't do VRT but my understanding of them is that they are very similar to the exercises done in PT in the US. Yes, at first you will get dizziness while doing the exercises as your muscles and certain body parts are not used to the movement and strengthening and stretching but also because you are working out the areas that are causing the dizziness in the first place. In my opinion it's not a full on dizzy spell and this starts to disipate after you have gotten a routine down (this will depend on how often you do it each week, the further apart the exercises, the longer this symptom will last).
The dizziness will also pop back up if you do too much, too fast. Sometimes your body will need a break and you will have to go back down to beginner levels and work your way back up. Those seem worse to me. Unlike the previous paragraph these will be while doing the exercises but can last longer.
It's important that you are communicating every symptom and reaction so that you are getting the best care. Even if a detail seems unimportant or like you are complaining.
Hey Patty. When I first started the exercises I would be dizzier while I was doing them and for a short period afterward. I think what happens is you are shaking up the inside of your head and then things settle back down. For me, each time I did the exercises the extra dizziness lessened. I am now at the point (it has taken 3 years) where I can feel a spell coming on, I do the exercises and it wards off the vertigo from becoming a full blown episode.
Hi Patty. My physical therapy exercises made me sick at first. Then my body would learn how to cope and the dizziness would lessen. As I would improve, my physical therapist would make the exercises harder which would cause more dizziness and nausea until my brain and body learned to adapt. Within 3-4 months my problems were mostly gone. I am lucky. Other than temporary setbacks, I am functioning fairly normally from day to day.
