vulvar lichen planus

This is a horrible painful disease and the medical society does not know much about it

got to agree with you it's an dreadful condition and hard to live with

have you been to gynochology, dermatolagy, there is some releif, just have to keep pushing your way to another doctor. good luck finding some help

It took many years and many different therapies to finally get relief. My regular GYN diagnosed as Group B strep and other inflammations. I was referred to a specialist that only deals with diseases of the vulva/vaginal area. He immediately did biopsies ( strange that no one else even thought about doing that). The results showed a serious lichen planus infection. He first tried Clobetasol. That did not work. I was prescribed Elidel Cream (it is now a generic). I started at twice a day, then once once a day. I am now on a maintenance dose once a week. The expertise of my specialist and his knowledge of the disease has led me to remission without any symptoms. Please seek out a GYN specialist that knows how to treat lichen planus. Get biopsies to confirm. I live in the Washington DC area. if you are near that area I can give you his name and office address.

Of course, now I also have Oral LP ! But with the help of a wonderful periodontist, I am getting better. Keep on smiling, find joy in life and hug a pup.... Ellie

?what is this Elidel cream is it a steroid ? because I need something to help me

i dont have the medication in front of me, but, Google Elidel+genital lp.Have you had biopsies? Seen a specialist? This medication changed my life.

yes I have had biopsy and been diagnosed with LP and I've tried different steroid cream and nothing worked so when I read this I was thinking would this help me I will Google this thanks for the info

the generic for Elidel is Pimecrolimus 1%. That should help in your research. please speak to your doctor and find out if it is right for you. My LP caused erosion and vaginal ulcerlike lesions. The Elidel worked for me ( not overnight, but after a few weeks. itching and bleeding sores gradually cleared up).

what is your treatment for oral lp.?

I dont know the answer to this but I know its different treatment you need to see your doctor or maybe dentist would now

And don't seem to care at all.... You poor baby!!!

thank you for your information
