Waiting for Gene Test results....

Merry Christmas! I'm a 40 year old woman that's new to this group and hoping to gain some insight on recent bloodworm. After seeing my primary care NP about a number of things I have dealt with for a while including: ongoing fatigue/exhaustion, strange loss of pigmentation in spots over back, ringing in ears, lower-mid dull achey back, feeling 'bone tired', throbbing pulse felt in head when lying down, etc....  I also had my gall bladder removed in 2015.  She ran a lot of blood tests mainly to rule out things, but ultimately referred me to a hematologist for high iron levels and low TIBC... specifically on 12/4:

Iron--227

Transferrin-234

Transferrin Sat., Calculated-78%

Transferrin TIBC, Calculated-292

Ferritin-66

Then at Hematologist (after my period) on 12/21:

Iron-136

Transferrin-228

Trans Sat., Calculated-48%

Trans TIBC, Calculated-285

Ferritin-85

So while my Iron went back into the normal range, my TIBC is still low.  I'm wondering if my period could be the reason for the dropped iron?  Also--Ferritin is well within normal range so wondering if my gene test comes back showing HH, do you still have to do 'blood-letting' or does that not start until Ferritin gets high?  Sorry this is so long--any insight would be much appreciated.  Hoping to hear from doctors office by the end of the week.

Many thanks!

“Bloodletting “ is only done to lower your ferritin levels and yours are well within the normal range. If you started giving blood at this point you would probably get anemic.

Thank you--here's what I just found out-I have 2 copies of H63D gene, but C282Y not detected... hopefully I will hear from hematologist to know what this means...

If nothing else you can go and donate at the Blood Bank about every 3 months.  Unless you are on medication that the Blood Bank does not like, it is beneficial for most people, whether with the less agressive haemochromatosis or not.
