Waiting time!

CAN SOMEONE GIVE ME AN IDEA AS TO HOW LONG I HAVE TO WAIT FOR A DATE FOR MY THR!  I HAD MY ASSESSMENT LAST MONTH,

If you are talking about your pre-op assessment, then I only had to wait about 10 days after that.  If you are talking about your first assessment with the Surgeon to see whether or not he recommends an operation, then I had to wait 2 months.  It is different in different areas though and some counties have a much longer waiting period.  I am in Devon and the waiting list seems to be a lot shorter here.

Depends where you live. I was given a 6 week window when I saw my surgeon on 17 Feb and had my op on March 19 There is a web site. Guide to NHS waiting times - patient choice

Have a Google and see what you find

Ann

Hi. I too have yet to be given a date. I have my accessment on Monday. Today at the 'hip class' I was told today that in England its usually 18 weeks from when you saw your consultant who gave the go ahead. If you've put yourself on short notice list then that might be why the accessment was done recently.

Good luck

😊

thankyou Barbara, i had a meeting with the surgeon first, who suggested that I have a THR, then two weeks later I had a full medical assessment, that was on the 2nd March, I havent heard anything since then.

Hi it depens all around the country and how bad your hip/hips are in my case my consultant told me I had probably the most terrible pair of hips he had seen, I was unable to walk far and that was with the aid of two cructh,s he even gave be a choice of which one I wanted done first, I had my consultation on 09/02/2015 and my pre-op on 04/03/2015 and had a date of 16/04/2015 but I was bcalled in for my THR on 21/03/2015 and he told me that he would do my 2nd hip in 3 months. I do know other people who have have to wait ages, I think some one post of here that they had been waiting more than 6 months from their pre-op and still had not had their op, so afraid I can't give a diffinatve answer, hope you here soon

hang in there !

As others have said it all depends where you are I was 6 months from referral to op had my pre op assesement 7 weeks before surgery, an occasional call to your surgeons secretary is sometimes helpful they can give you a rough guidline. Good luck.
