morning . Can anyone tell me what the general waiting times are now in uk for thr? Do hospitals have to stick to 18 week rule still.
thanks from an inpatient patient !

I was put on the list November 9th. Im now 4th on the waiting list so i was told id be in mid Feb, early March
It just depends - my hospital was a trauma hospital with major accidents therefore, unscheduled admissions. Hence lots of routine i.e hip ops cancelled. I was cancelled once and told that even if I was in preop, if a major emergency happened I could be cancelled. My wait was 40 weeks, but as it was a specialist surgeon I was waiting to see to do Superpath I was prepared to wait
Hi
Yes it depends on your hospital......if emergencies come in to mine they take precedence over a THR
Hope you dont have too long to wait

I think it depends where you are in the country. I was told there was a 26 week waiting list and it was 28 weeks when I had mine. This was Shropshire.
Hi Spring
the best way to find this out is to phone the hospital you will be going to. Phone the Orthopedic dept and ask what the waiting lists are like. I had a 4 year wait for my first one and a long and painful 9 months for the second one both done same hospital same Surgeon. So it is basicly a postcode lottery.
I was amazed, my surgeon wanted to do mine within 4 weeks but I had two holidays booked so declined. He then offered me an assortment of dates and we settled on Jan 26th which at the time was 3 months away. At one point he forgot I'd requested a later date and rang me on my mobile and said, "I'm keen to bring it forward for you, can you do a week on Tuesday?".
Originally I thought I'd be waiting up to a year.
18 weeks wow. I am in Wales and was on the waiting list for one year almost to the day. I think I only got it done then because I kept phoning. I had the op in England as I am near the Welsh/English border, but it certainly was a long wait. I hope you get the 18 weeks or less.
Hi Spring,
Greetings fom Exeter,Devon
Like amy, I was offed 4 weeks once the physio sawmy X-ray, and took it ten months later no regrts....
Appartly had someone cancelled, once i was listed as 'priority' I might have been done even earlier!

I was listed priority but im convinced my surgeon is making me wait as long as possible due to my age and complexity of my operation 😂
The hospitals are supposed to adhere to the 18 week "rule!" It looks to me as though it depends on the hospital and post code lottery.
Quite honestly, if you find that you are going past the 18 week rule, I would be rattling as many chains as I can find.
Agreed id be ringing up all the time 😂
Iwas told 12-18month leicester but needed both doing and ended up going private as couldnt wait. But heard others had no problem depends on the area.
