Waking up several times a night with erections

I am a 43 year old male and for the past year or so I have been experiencing some erectile problems at night. Basically I wake up several time during the night with a strong erection, bordering on the painful. It usually goes away after a few minutes and I can go back to sleep but will come again once I have slept a bit. It can be relieved also by urination and I thought it might be caused by that but I am not sure. Has anyone else experienced this or know the cause ?

I don’t think that would be a problem for most men. I’m 63 and still get them like you are saying. When you stop waking up with that problem then you will have a problem.

This is just something that happen. Your testosterone must be very high.

Hi Patrick, as Kenneth is pointing out, and from a Fruedian perspective, men ‘only’ think about sex every 20 seconds or so. Alright, so given every potential Man’s individual circumstances, this can be a something of an excessive exaggeration. But the unconscious to semi-conscious mind can be ‘a law unto itself’ and sex, although you may not think you are thinking about it, has practical connotations to most things that are motivational in life to most men. So yes, you may have a relatively high sex-drive at this point in your life - but unless you see a Urologist who has knowledgable insight of this kind of thing, there is no way of knowing whether this is unusual or not …
