Hi I had minimally invasive chevron surgery (keyhole) on both bunions 3 weeks ago. I had no stitches and had the bandages taken off at 2 weeks. The doctor said I was healing very well and to keep wearing the special velcro shoes when I walk about and in another week if I feel comfortable I can try wear a loose walking trainer. Does anyone know when it's ok to walk barefoot around the house?
I don't think anyone can advise you on this because everyone is a separate case - better to check with your consultant. I was advised by my surgeon that in 10 years his only failure was due to someone walking barefoot... so best be on the safe side
Hi Mel, I would still be very careful. Prevention is much better than cure..... It takes at least 6 weeks for bones to heal and 6 months before they are rock solid. This all depends on your health condition obviously. At least that's what I have been reading while doing some research. I have MIS scheduled for 1st week of May. Can't wait. Hope you keep us updated on your recovery
Thanks everyone for your replies. I think I will just wait it says on my notes from my doctor that next week I need to be doing tip toe exercises where I need to stand and try go on to my tip toes so will see how that goes
