I had to go to my local shop a little while ago.Didn't realise until halfway there it was due to close 15 mins later. Didn't run there, but did limp very, very quickly. Nearly 12 weeks now and feel I am finally healing. Amazing what you can do when you have a looming deadline...
Great news 😀 keep up the good work
Ooh. Forgot to add that when I got home, I did the stairs like a real person... one foot per step instead of toddler style... what a breakthrough!
Ooh stop it now
I'm off to try the steps 😆
great news, its surprising when you think what you were like before the operation you realise how far you have come.
I am over 3 months now, back to work full time, getting two buses each way, walking my dog, in September i promised my god daughter at her christening that on her 1st birthday, i will walk in with no crutches, and play on the floor with her, which i did. I was so happy. Yes I still walk with a slight limp and ache but I am normal for the first time in about 3 years, to walk down the road without hobbling, is an incredible feeling.
so good luck to all hippies and hippies to be, to get to this point, well I never even dreamed about it.

cool, girl ----
don't make a habit of limping quickly okay ???? Sorry, just had to mention it -
I am saying this because I do at times - I cannot walk fast without limping and many times it starts raining when I am on my way to or from my car - jigh !!! the faster I walk, the more I limp - woddle, dunk, eh ...just bad but proud I made it !
Oddly, I am the opposite - I can go very fast without a limp - my wife cannot keep up with me any more !
Me too when I get out of bed in the early hours for a wee I walk really fast and no limp 😀
I love to "read" all these conversations!
I'm on day 6 post op and I'm dreaming about walking without pain!
High five to every one!

I can walk around the house without limping (except for when I first get up from lying down or sitting). Can't on a long walk. Only ditched the crutch for a stick a few days ago...
It gets better and better. Except for the limp, I can't tell anything was done.
I remember that you wrote that Graham, and so I tried it - alas, not working yet for me, so one step at a time I go ...
For the record, I can "walk" fast but limp badly when I do ...
Paula, I was the same the first time. I kept reading about everyone's little victories and in those first couple of weeks you can't imagine it. I am 12 days post op and still sat on the sofa with a heavy lead-like leg. The difference this time is that I know it will happen. I turned a corner at a month and by the time I saw my surgeon for a check up at 6 weeks I was using one stick. I am keeping that clearly in my mind this time and when I am lurching between furniture, rubbing my poor 'sitting down' bum and taking half an hour to get a sock on I remind myself that this is all temporary and soon we will also be buzzing around like Belle.
Wasn't it you that said "it's not a one size fits all"? So similarly with recovery and exercise, what works for me won't necessarily work for you.
