i was diagnosed with hsv1 genital two years back via a culture test. but a month back i took the igg test and it turned out negative. so im a bit confused with the diagnosis. i have some itching in the vagina right now and took a pic and would like to know if its herpes outbreak afterall.
regardless of what others on here may tell you..you can be misdiagnosed!!! even on a culture! cross contamination, expired test, etc may occur. per my doctor “listen to the igg test and if your still not 100% confident go back in 6 weeks and retest” that does not look like herpes to me, but if your having symptoms i would go to an urgent care to get another swab, are you on valtrex or any antivirals?
@alicia89745 thanks for the reply. all i have heard online is that the culture test can wrongly say u dont have it but it can never go wrong to say that you have it. is that wrong?
i am not any antivirals currently cause i wasnt sure if it was herpes or not.
full of ■■■■…so i recently took microbiology, every student the class needed to appropriately identify the correct specimen in order to pass, guess how many people passed? me and my partner, why CROSS CONTAMINATION. it happens! not trying to give false hope here but its possible. if you had it, your body should have created an immune response to it and will be picked up on Igg testing…that is you gave it sufficient time. 6-12 weeks after exposure
this is a very interesting topic…look at HPV…still a virus most of us have been exposed to. People who have had abnormal paps are recommended to get annual paps from that point, most of those after are normal. viruses are strange…i would say for peace of mind to get another blood test or culture if its been within 48 hrs of this “sore”
@alicia89745 haha that sure does give me some hope. is it 12 weeks after the first exposure or the last exposure? my first outbreak when the culture test was done was in 2018
i get boils like the ones in the picture i have attached. so i never know if its herpes or something else.
i will definitely go for the igg test once again to just make sure!
since last exposure? its been a year…you should have developed antibodies which you do not. id take it as a neg. Always see a physician and get a retest if your having symptoms…everything will be fine! i promise
@alicia89745 i went to the doctor today and they confirmed it to be a yeast infection.
ive also asked for a culture test to just double check on my diagnosis!
