Wanting to get off humira?

Am wondering if anyone has gotten off Humira without horrid setbacks. I am on it and methotrexate for RA and have been for over 6 years now. It works but I am now wondering if these days just the methotrexate would hold the attacks off as I am in far better health than I used to be and think it might be time to ditch the Humira. So if anyone else has been in a similar situation would love a reply.

Describe "horrid"... I was off Humira and on nothing except common painkillers. First month, month and a half were horrible. Then it became better. If you are on meth, maybe your reaction will be less severe. I would discuss this with your dr - maybe you are far better *because* of Humira. Why taking Humra off if it makes you feel better? In my case it did not help that much and the side effects made it not worth taking. Your case seems different... Good luck

Hi

my thoughts too I m afraid- isn't the humira the reason you are so well?

i am on another biologic, rituximab and both my experience and that of a couple of friends indicates that biologics are the 'wonder' med for RA.

do you feel worse just before taking your next shot?  My friend taking enbrel can tell when it's wearing off. If you don't  maybe your consultant would let you try less frequent doses?-  just a thought! I have no idea if that s even a possibility !

Hmm.... Can't answer for Humira but I did another biologics infusion, Actemra, had a temporary tho bad skin reaction and my rheumy kept me off the biologics for four years.

I just went back on the MTX and preds to no special ill effect. I was just stuffer, in a bit more pain and limped a bit more.

On Actemra I could dance. On MTX I could walk with varying difficuties.

Have you thought of shifting to another of the biologics?
